And also this is more of a general question. What do you guys think of all the newer Final Fantasy games? Mainly the PSP and PS3 ones.

Ultimate, Ruby, and Emerald are all optional.
You get some stuff for beating them:

Re: Final Fantasy
I agree with Dudebro, FF IX was pretty decent.
If you're including the spin-offs, Bravely Default is absolutely amazing and probably the best Final Fantasy since FFVI.

Re: Final Fantasy
Thanks guys, I'll probably check most of them out. RPGs are my favorite kind of games, so I should have fun with the majority of these games.
@BH- Thanks! They are probably really hard so don't know if I'll be able to beat the optional ones but I can try
@Tenser- I think I should be getting Bravely Default soon. Heard great things about it so far.

Square Enix is releasing a remastered HD version of both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for the PS3 and PS Vita on March 18th. It's 40 dollars and it seems like a good deal so I will probably buy it.

Re: Final Fantasy
I just got past the part where Cloud goes missing. Gotta say, not too thrilled with having to have Tifa in my party. She's one of my least favorites. I usually use Cloud, Yuffie, and Cid, and occasionally, I use Vincent. Hopefully this doesn't last too long and I can get Cloud back soon.
Also that Wutai sidequest with Yuffie annoyed me. All my Materia got jumbled up and I had to fix everything

I'm up to the Diamond Weapon so I'm pretty close to the end!

Re: Final Fantasy
No one is really a bad party member. Just depends who you use and build most. Tifa is great if you use her. Awful if you don't. Same goes for all characters.
The Wutai side quest? The Yuffie boss gauntlet? I loved that part. Probably because Yuffie was one of my main party members. To each their own.
You're close. What levels are your guys?

Re: Final Fantasy
That's what I mean. I don't like having a party member locked into my party that I don't use. That's just making it harder and unnecessary for me. I understand it helps with the character's personal "arcs", but still.
Wutai was ok, I just found it a little annoying since it was somewhat hard to get through it quickly with no materia. Not saying it was hard, just took time and was kind of boring. Though the end part of it was funny.
I still really like the game. The story is really interesting. My team is Cloud, Yuffie, and Cid. I think they are all level 46 or right around there.

Re: Final Fantasy
hmm... Yeah... Kinda got through wutai at level 70 or something like that. Maybe why I enjoyed it more haha.
I'd advise getting to at least level 55 before taking on the end game. There is a good sunken ship underwater for grinding. There's a small room in it with an exit at the top, and bottom right, little diagonal room there that's ideal.
I was level 86 when I finished, but that was too much.

Re: Final Fantasy
I've been very surprised with how well I've been doing so far without any real grinding. I definitely plan on grinding before the last dungeon.
I'll check out the Sunken Ship if I can find it. I read that around level 60 is good for end game.

Re: Final Fantasy
Sephiroth's stats are tied to your party's level and certain actions you take in the game if I recall.

Re: Final Fantasy
To an extent. However, you're generally more prepared at a higher level so it helps.

Re: Final Fantasy
Everyone is at 58 in my party and I'm at the beginning of the Northern Cave, the last dungeon.
I have the final weapons and final Limits for Yuffie and Cid and I got the Ultimate Weapon. Only Cloud doesn't have his final Limit Break but I really rather not waste my time in the Battle Square thing. I didn't have much trouble with Ultimate Weapon so hopefully the rest of the game isn't very hard. I'm well equipped and so far I've found the game fairly easy.

Re: Final Fantasy
battle square is just annoying. One of the only things that'll make me use save states in an rpg. Get frogged or mini'ed at random while not being able to use magic or items to fix yourself back. I'll pass.
You should be fine, though given what you have for the final boss. Good Luck!

Ahem, that's why you equip a ribbon. Problem solved.
So FF13's final boss decides to cheat at random now. Get it down to 1/3 it's HP and boom, casts an instant death spell on the party leader and it's game over.
I don't have anything in my inventory to reduce the chance of death so I either need to try and craft/buy one now or just hope I get extremely lucky.

Apart from the last one, bosses in FFXIII will only cast doom if you take unusually long. (Except for certain ones on Pulse, I forget about those) You just gotta rethink your strategy and either chain a higher damage multiplier or commit more Commandos to dealing damage during Break.

It's not doom I'm talking about. Progenitorial Wrath is the problem.

Oh geeze now I know what fight you're talking about. I do not envy you broseph.
It's been a while so I have no idea if this will work, but what you might consider is making Lightning the team leader, upgrading her sentinel form until she has dodge and then just keeping her in sentinel mode to see if she'll evade the hit. I don't seem to recall having any items that reduced chance of instant death when I did it.

Re: Final Fantasy
Well I finally beat FF7! Was a really fun game, I can see why it is as popular as it is. I didn't have too much trouble at all with the last dungeon. I had so many items stocked up that I could use for sustainability. The final bosses were all easy except Big Guard ran out just as Sephiroth used his meteor attack and it almost wiped out my entire party from full health. Luckily got a Cure 3 off in time and that saved me.
Speaking of which, are we just going to ignore the fact that Sephiroth destroyed more than half of the planets in our solar system?

Re: Final Fantasy
Don't think too deeply about it none of it makes much sense. Plus you got this summon going off more than once a game so, yeah.

What was the max health of your characters, and what was your final 3?
