Actually the Empress in Prince of Persia: Rival Swords looks rather homely.

Like Mario....
I see what you mean, but I can explain the difference.
The gaming audience is mostly male, this isn't sexism, this is a statistic, so it's marketable to have both of these things, the women for guys to fantasize over, and the men so guys can pretend they are the character. For the female audience, the roles can be simply reversed, so that either way the games become profitable.

leisure suit larry?
why are we talking about this? do we live in a world where we don't want to turn to video games as not only a source of entertainment, but for fantasy as well? who hasn't wanted to be all jacked up on steroids...laying waste to the alien hordes and saving some barely dressed women? but if you really want some ugly heffers in your video games, by all means, design them up.

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
to summarize my post a little: video games are filled with perfect people, men and women
@jim, i think that eventually porn and video games will be the same thing with different content

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
List of females in games who are covering most of their bodies I can think (ignoring other posts by Dudebro and jim5cents):
Princess Peach, Zelda, Toadette, Malon, Eirika, Michaiah. Can't think of more at the moment.
Female video game characters I can think right on the top of my head who are wearing (if you pardon the word) "sexy" outfits:
Krystal, Midna, Jody Summers. (Once again, I'm pretty sure I know others, just need to think, or play through my games again)

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
Ok so we all agree that 99% of women are portrayed as sex objects in games. Ever wonder why we don't see more female gamers? I'm sure some of it is to do with this, it's hard to identify with these absurd barbie characters.

[devil's advocate]It's hard to identify with Barbies yet girls still play with them.[/] There are some groups trying to make Barbie dolls illegal.

Good. Barbie is something that is incredibly useless, pointless, meaningless, and a piece of crap.

Kong,Yeah and I agree with them. Stuff like that is ruining lives by warping peoples views about what a woman should look like.

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
I agree with the reasoning behind banning barbie but I think it should be done by educating parents and children about how it warps minds - not by making laws which is what some people are trying to do.

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
im still puzzled why everyone one thinks is so one sided, both girls and boys have unrealistic action figures to live up to. when was in highschool i had low self esteem cause had zits. that is a product of the bombardment of beautiful people on the cover of every magazine, every billboard and every tv station.

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
@Kong- yeah I agree things have to change on a personal level. If we try to force things on people they will resist(and rightfully so). It's probably impossible to change peoples minds about this though, everyone wishes they were beautiful. This topic was mainly me venting about it and hoping I wasn't the only one mad about it.
@Steven- I agree it's not just a one gender issue but I was talking about the female side. Men/boys have a broader range of character types. Don't forget the vast majority of main characters in video games are male and there are tons of different male stereotypes to refrence there.
Most games show women as overly sexual. Once in a while you'll see the token butch lesbian or brainy introvert(she's really beautiful when she lets her hair down and takes off her glasses!) but the majority of female characters are beautiful, huge breasted and almost nude. I'm not against any of those things at all but at this point I just want more variety. I'm not a horny teenager, I don't need to see these things everytime I play a game. No offense to you young guys/girls but I think this could also be an age issue.
Damn, you know you're old when you say something like that.
Btw good choice for a necropost SSBBrawler. I like reading my old posts.

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
self image is something that changes with the times. for example, in the 18th century. it was fashionable to be a thicker, fully formed woman. fashion even tried to pass off woman as thicker. metal inserts were placed into the back of a woman's skirt to give the appearance of a big (and i mean huge) caboose.

Re: Am I the only one sick of this?
ill take the renessance period anyday, va-va-voom!
if only girls realised that, after guys get past age 16 or so, they world of women open up to them, and its not a single physical appearance that they find attractive, for instance, i find the oddball lookin ladies attractive. like the girl from the shinning, anyone else find her hot or just me?

You mean Olive Oil? Meh no thanks but I understand your point.
Personally I like the whole 1920s-1940s era woman. Pretty hot all around if you ask me. Maybe it's how they talk, I dunno.

Hehe
So what, do we sit around and play other games and be bored out of our minds, or do we buy the sissy games without them?
