I agree, even though in this case it's keeping up with morbid news.
It always makes me feel the passage of time when I hear of some familiar person's name in this thread.

I know I've pretty much trashed celebrities in this very thread, making what I've said sound weird in that context, but what else do we have really?

"Macho Man" Randy Savage (b.) Randall Poffo was killed in a car accident this morning.

For those who don't know, Savage was a professional wrestler for both the WWF and WCW. My Macho Man story is from his WCW days.

I spent my summers with my mother in Florida, I took my brother to see a filming of a WCW show in Fort Myers, about 30 miles away. This was back in the days of the NWO and Savage had recently come over from WWF. The Macho Man angle was dropped and he turned Heel as a character called "The Madness" At the end of the show, my brother and I ran to the top of the bleachers to look over into the backstage area. Lo and behold, there is Savage. My brother lets out a "Yo Macho!" Savage looks up, see these two kids and lets out his "OHHHHH YEAHHHHHH!!!" We were so pumped.

One of my entertainment heroes growing up. In my top 3 favorite wrestlers of all time.

I also found this, ironically written the day before he died. Another one of my favorite matches was on Monday Night Raw against the then champion, Yokozuna. Savage ended up losing the match because of interfearance from Mr. Fuji, but the match itself was epic.

I remember how enjoyable he made the WWF to watch - especially the confrontational interviews he had with good ol' Mean Gene.
I know it sounds odd but I have been thinking of him the past couple of days.

Very sad. I know he was an over the top character pretending to wrestle but he was awesome. There will never be another Macho Man. I swear I got goose bumps reading this. It's like a part of my childhood died.

+1. I don't think he would mind at all.

I feel the same. I only watched wrestling for few years, but it was in the Hogan, Savage, Hart, Ultimate Warrior, Sgt. Slaughter era which I argue is probably one of the best eras of all time IMHO. Macho Man can never be duplicated.

RIP MACHO MAN!!! Its sad hearing that hes gone. I would have loved to see him enter the Hall of Fame next year. Im sure he'll get in but its just not the same as having him walk across the stage and get his award.

Yes that Macho versus Steamboat match at Wrestlmania was epic. The man really knew his craft and was always entertaining to watch.

I really am sad to see him die this way. I heard it was a heart attack while driving that lead to the accident that killed him.

I think I heard it on the comments section of a news article about the looney tunes rapture people. Either way it's pretty funny. We should all give thanks to Mr Savage for postponing the rapture a little longer.

Actor Jeff Conaway (Grease, Babylon 5,etc.) is being taken off life support tonight, as he is brain dead. A combination of pneumonia and substance abuse is the reason.
