Re: Head2head master challenge
Well I was so used to a game pad when I got my 64, I just used to use the analog like a game pad, pressing it full force but do it in a series of taps, still do actually.
So my turns in kart 64 rather than being hold the analog at a certain pressure, it was a series of full blast taps.

Can just say that it;s recommended to get a game pad for N64 because the game will be buggy without a joystick

You could possibly use the mouse to emulate it, but that would limit what you could do on the keyboard.

Maybe this is a good time to mention that 360 controllers are plug and play with PCs and they have analog sticks?

You could go for cheaper, a lousy Logitech controller goes for $15 and is the same layout as the PS2 controller, analog sticks included.

I'll stick with a 360 controller. Every PC controller I've ever used/owned has been crap.

Shnarf, I'm glad you joined RU. It's nice to have another Amiga fan. My brother, sister, and I have been some of the only ones who had previously experienced it's glory.

Re: Head2head master challenge
I think it's best we focus on systems that can be used by everyone before we aim for systems that will be limited to home use in most cases.

I use a 360 controller as well though I find the Dpad for it annoying. I also have a Microsoft Sidewinder flight yoke.

Have you ever tried a Logitech Precision? I find that they have one of the best D-pads for any PC controller. No bells or whistles, but a great pad. It reminds me a lot of the Saturn D-pad. Very responsive.

I did a Google image search and it brought up a lot of different results for "Logitech Precision", could you be specfic about which one it is?
On topic:
I think there should be a way for users to challenge each other at games. I recall that in the long long time ago at RU you could give and receive something called "Rep" to/from other users? I think it would be cool if this came back.

Re: Head2head master challenge
Rep was like rating down a post by more personal because it was on their profile. I do agree that it would be cool to have a challenge system though. We should really get this topic back on track and see where it goes.

Re: Head2head master challenge
Sorry if I misunderstood, this was before my time here, I've only seen it mentioned in really old posts, and some high score messages, like the #2 score here.
My main idea to bring something like the Defenders of the Crown challenge, except open to all users instead of just challenging those few select players.
I don't think everyone would need a badge, but it would be very cool to have a record, like a "Challenge Log" that shows who you've played against and whether you won or lost.

Re: Head2head master challenge
No worries Seahawk it's totally understandable.
I agree this sounds like a good idea. Maybe we could keep track of wins/losses in a contest topic and consider badges for things like amount of wins/consecutive wins/ect. Make them hard though so it's not just passing out badges for participation.

Re: Head2head master challenge
I think getting the Mastered title is it's own reward.
I was thinking about mashing this, the old game of the week, and the game club all together.

Specifically, it's this one:
I think it's just called the Logitech Precision Gamepad. It has no special frills or commands. It's just 10 buttons (4 face, 4 shoulder, and two command buttons) and a really responsive D-pad. I highly recommend it.
Now back OT, Kong created something awhile back where users could challenge each other in almost any game. I don't see the option anymore, but I thought the system was already in place.
@ Ten, do you know about this? I think it used to be located in the same area as the old Teams area.

Re: Head2head master challenge
I do remember it. It use to keep track of your win/loss record and the challenges would be deliverd via PM. I'd like something more public though.
