Re: video game quirks
I like strategy games, and I like taking my turn.
I just think it is a major flaw in logic.

Well yeah but I think the majority of video games require some suspension of disbelief. Turn based anything is unrealistic really but it's fun. Many board games and games of chance use turn based gameplay to keep things organized and methodical. The board/table is the terrain and the pieces/cards are the players and enemies. Personally I love it and I can't get enough of it.

You think because he likes turn based he has to like FFX? Besides, that game used a "conditional turn based" system. It's similar but different.

Very true BM. That was always horrible. You would get a new game, and try the controls only to find that is felt backwards.

I don't hate any Final Fantasy game, I just don't particularly like some of them. Even the ones I dislike are mostly for the mega-fanboyism that surrounds them.
That, and I don't really like to run around as emo kids and metro-sexual men.

-How anytime you'd see a game console/hand held on any sort of tv/movie there is always something blatantly wrong: no cartridge, power not on, controller not plugged in etc...

Re: video game quirks
In the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, you swim in one level, but in a later level, if you fall in the water, you die.

Re: video game quirks
According to Nintendo games, 95% of protagonists cannot swim.
In many cases, a 60 foot drop will fail in killing you where a creature the size of your fist will succeed.
Points.

Actually the smaller the animal, the less the impact because it has less inertia.

Enemies that you can't kill, like the enemies on Death Mountain on LttP that turn purple when you hit them.

- Tommy Vercetti (GTA: Vice City) living by the ocean, but drowning the second he touches the water.
-The fact that things in GTA games happen at a normal pace, but the clock advances one hour for each minute played. They must be going in super-slow motion.

Same for sims, but on top of that, they age from kids to teens in a week, which is seven sim days, but apparently three sim days is about nine months because that's how long it takes to have a baby, yet it somehow manage to balance this out regardless.
But back to quirky things...

-Game over screens like: "You are dead", "You Lose", "Wow, you suck!", or ones that yell "Snake, Snaake, Snaaaaake" in a different character's voice each time.

Re: video game quirks
Rikku occasionally yells "Snake, Snaake, Snaaaaaake!" as a game over in Final Fantasy X-2, it is not okay.

-Mr. Resetti lecturing you for turning Animal Crossing off without saving, then threatening to delete your data, making you type word for word his apologies, adjust some bar to show how sorry you were (there was a zone it had to fall in), resetting your game for you and making it appear he had deleted your data. Mr. Resetti was frustrating.

You forgot about the weeds, and the 300 000 errands you need to run for everyone else in town in order to get the one little thing that you wanted in the first place.

Re: video game quirks
Ah yes, the weeds. Don't play for a month, and the town is covered in weeds, and the animals hate it. The animals also get mad when you cut down a single tree, or don't deliver a letter within ten minutes because the other animal is asleep in his house. I like the game, it just has it's problems.
