I voted Other. The hardest game I have personally played on RU is 1945K III. I'm sure there a bunch of others that are as hard or harder, but that's what I can think of.

I think one thing that should be considered about the original video in this topic, is it the only games that qualified are famous games. There are a bunch of games no one has ever heard of that are probably harder, but no one would really care. The list is supposed to elicit a response like, "Oh yeah. I remember that game being hard" by most people. They wouldn't say that if, 1945K III or Mushihimesama Futari were included. That would get the, "huh?!!!" response.

Personally, I think that Simpsons Bart vs The Space Mutants is way harder than Contra (NES), Zelda II, or Ninja Gaiden. All those games are tough for sure, but I think more easily beaten.

Battletoads, Ghouls and Ghosts, and Castlevania are the only games on the list that I would say are very hard. They are all fun games, though.

It is hard. Kind of fun though. I got 110,940 points. I wonder how many levels there are.

I think its impossible somebody beat The Tower of Druaga (Famicom or coin-op) without walkthrough.

Last time I tried on Famicom, with walkthrough and using infinite continues. I gave up on the 40th floor, six hours latter, before I become insane.

NES' Contra isn't hard, many people can finish it several times, again and again. Without Konami code.

Ninja Gaiden and Battletoads are hard - coin-op versions, not NES ones.

@ Seahwk... You "DON'T" think ikaruga should be on that list :O I love the game, but it's brutal and cruel on what they expect you to do sometimes. I actually just finished playing that game online with timber. It's brutal, and sometimes having two people is the cause of death. Not to mention, level 1 & 2 are easy compared to level 3. Level 3 is BRUTAL, and I don't even mean levels 1 & 2 are easy. There is like 5 levels or something too!...

Wow, I had a hella time with the genesis version, once I completed it I could do it every time though.

The only reason Battletoads is even the slightest bit difficult, is the fact that the difficulty is built assuming you are playing with a friend.

Actually my brother and I used to play it together, and the game is waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy harder on 2 Player than 1 Player. The reason for this is you have to have precise timing together to get through all the traps. If one of the players is lagging behind just slightly, both players get killed. We managed to beat it together many times, but it is quite tough to do so.

Also, one of the things that makes Battletoads easier is the opportunity to earn many 1-Ups. You can get 25-30 1-Ups just by playing the game. The Coin-Op version isn't so much harder if you put in multiple credits. If most people played it with 15 credits, they would make it pretty far. It just becomes very difficult playing it on one credit. If you had to play Battletoads for NES with just 2 lives it would be very tough too.

I don't think Ikaruga should be on that list. There are MANY shooting games that are harder than Ikaruga, coin op versions of Gradius III and Gradius IV, Gradius V for PS2, Radiant Silvergun for ST-V/Sega Saturn, R-Type and R-Type II, Parodius, Gokujou Parodius, and the innumerable true bullet hail games like Touhou and Battle Garegga and Armed Police Batrider. Ikaruga ranks pretty low on the difficulty list in my opinion. Of course, that doesn't mean it's not an excellently crafted shooter.

2 Player is harder but one player is still very hard if you don't know the levels inside out. I'm not liking this battletoads isn't hard thing we got going here.

Silver Surfer, Mike Tyson's Punchout and Rolling Thunder are a couple that are pretty tough IMO. How many of you have beat those without cheats?

Also Battletoads I think is a very rough game.

Lost Levels is hard. Almost broke my GBC playing it.
