Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
yes, I've never been sucessful with Saturn Emulators, plus I hate emulators... Unless I can compete for high scores like I can here.

Kind of steep for a saturn. If you are straped for cash no job, I'd say wait on it and invest in something better. I have a saturn, it's a great system, but honestly I'm not using it like I used too because thee are other comparable things out there. A lot of the games worth playing on it have been ported over to other piratable things. Save your money, invest it in something wiser.
Saturn has internal memory, it's more then enough for a lot of games. The memory card is cool, but you can get one that adds extra ram so you can play cap vs marvel and inter change partners.
Ok
Here is the poormans guide to getting awesome saturn games for free
Galactic Attack was released in the arcade as Raystorm or something like that, get it on mame
Xmen Children of the atom sucks on PSX (anything 2-d was better on sat) but you can also get that on mame
Gaurdian Heros was released on a bunch of other things
Duke 3d on sat is really hard to control, it was awesome at the time because I DIDNT HVE MY OWN COMPUTER lol. Get the open gl version of duke.
BUG ain't that great
Virtual Cop 2 was released on PC you can get it somewhere on the net
Dragon Force was re-released on PSX , check the IRC etc
Basically a lot of the good game son it you can find for free somewheres else.
Things that yo may be missing out on
Panzer Dragoon 2, most epic awesome game ever, top 30 in my book
Alpha 2 is mad on this machine, freaking runs the best better then any other platform
Daytona, cause the audio tracks are in CD format and it's a great prank to blast this late at night (if anyone knows the music they'll get the joke).
Oh yeah fighters megamix was AWESOME when it came out cause you could use some VF3 moves in it, but hey all that stuff is old now so that's like buying tobel no 5 to get a ff7 demo in 2010. Makes no sense.
Save your coinage little duder and buy something cool like a PS3 with God of War Collections ;D

I hate sony's guts, and none of the new games are fun to me except Left 4 Dead 1 & 2. I enjoy the older stuff, especially buisness strategy games. Saturn has the best version of Theme Park, bar none.
Kind of cool that saturn has internal memory back in that age. Last time I had one, I was pretty ticked that I kept losing my Theme park files, guess I just didn't realise that I needed a simple watch battery
I have been pondering all of this since way back last year. I've considered Saturn, Jaguar, 3DO, Neo Geo CD & TG16. This is most convienient, and it is really something I want. I'm a Retro Sega/Nintendo freak, so it is ideal. Like I've said, i've had one before and theme park alone is enough for me to want one.
I really don't have any good PCs. I have a windows 98, with no sound and no internet, this one is for for games. Then I have a Windows XP with sound and internet, with a few games, but it really shouldn't have any games on it.
Bottomline, I appreciate the suggestion, but I am a semi-collector, and I enjoy the real deal consoles. I should be able to use Ebay soon, which will save me a lot, thanks for trying to give me an opposite outlet, but I have my mind set, and have had it set since the summer. I want a Saturn, I'm 100 % sure.
I've now saved up 195 dollars, I will be getting some other things like a Europe only GC game that I have on the N64DD, but I can't understand it: That game would be Doshin the Giant, another strategy game. I'll be trying to get Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 Wacky Worlds also.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
yeah, believe me, I'd prefer those, but I need a cheqeu book for certain numbers, I set up a paypal account already.
Lol fungusman. I actua;ly have an emulator for it on the Dreamcast, but it requires an actual saturn game (which I still have one) but it runs at liike 5% speed of what it should.

Good luck on the shopping trip Cam. I hope you find some good stuff.
3-D Pinball, Herc's Adventures, and Guardian Heroes are probably my overall favorite games on the system.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
Dragon force looks cool, also, the door broke on the Saturn, the little thin metal thing snapped. Any way to replce that?
The only game that I own:

You should avoid both and go through flea markets and garage sales.

Nice. I have a tendency to sell off my games as well. So it turns out I rarely own over 5 DS games at a time.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
I never sell off games, AT ALL. Waste of cash and i already learned my lesson from when I was younger trading my Genesis, PS1 and all their games for a used GBC and new Pokemon Red.

Well normally I sell to friends, who give me close to what I paid for the games.
At least you could play some form of Metal Gear Solid.

I figured that would be more time and luck and driving than he was willing to do. Videos made me feel like heading to a flea market soon. I haven't been to one in America in well over 5 years. I used to go to a couple in Prague on a regular basis. Never bought anything. It was just fun to check out.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
I never sell any games, with 2 exceptions: If I really don't like the game, or if I wound up with more than 1 copy of a game (Once had 3 copies of SMW).

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
If I were to sell all of the games I do not play, I would have a small fortune, but, unfortunately, if I did that, my brother would probably beat me up.
I have:
2 NES
2 PS2
1Wii
1 xBox 360
1 SNES
1 N64
1 Sega Genesis
2GBA
1GBC
1NDS
and around 200 games all together. Only about 5 of which I play.
