Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
I didn't even consider the size difference. Godzilla for sure. Plus, didn't he lay eggs in one of the newer movies. An ape can't do that.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
Godzilla for sure. I mean Godzilla beat MechaGodzilla, King Ghidorah, Rodan, Gigan, Megalon, Zilla, King Kong, Kamakiras, Kumonga, Orga, and some others I forgot the names of.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
King Kong
or Godzilla?
I like Godzilla due to his overall coolness factor, but King Kong is sort of cuddly, and he is a Monkey, after all.
When it comes to movies, Godzilla wins.
Game-wise Godzilla had some bad games in the NES days, but now there are some really good ones.
I didn't like any of the King Kong movies.
I don't know too many King Kong games, so I can't say much, but there is the obvious reference to King Kong in 'Donkey Kong'.
BTW, did you guys know that Nintendo originally intended his name to be ' Monkey Kong'?
It is only because of poor translation or a typo that we know him as 'Donkey Kong' instead !

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
This anatomical sketch of Godzilla reveals a relatively small brain, giant lungs that allow underwater breathing, leg muscles that can support 20,000 tons of body weight, and a “uranium sack” and “nuclear reaction sack” that produce radioactive fire-breath and energize the body.
I got this out of my biology book but it didn't have one for King Kong, who now I think is just a movie character.

I'm pretty sure the story goes that Shigeru Miamoto wanted to give him a name of a different animal so it would be a little more original than Monkey, so he decided to make him a stubborn guy, hence the characteristics of a donkey.(Donkey Kong would later be named Cranky Kong, the new Donkey Kong is the old one's grandson, with the new one's father I suppose being Donkey Kong Jr.)

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
All of that is urban legend. Shigeru Miamoto never said how he picked the name other than that he wanted it to be English.

Perhaps I went to far when I brought up Shigeru's name, but It's just a story I heard and I'm not sure if it's true.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
It was suppose to be Funky Kong but the 70`s died so they changed it to Donkey Kong.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
Miamoto said himself he called it "Donkey" because it was a stubborn monkey
who threw barrels at Mario (Donkeys are stubborn) and "Kong" because
Kong means monkey.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
King Kong is the oldest "movie monster", though he is not the first creature to rampage through a city in a movie. That was the brontosaurus from The Lost World, as I have stated before.
Godzilla never laid any eggs except in the American remake. His son from the series was always an adopted son.
The myth that Godzilla won in the Japanese version and that Kong won in the American version is not true. The only difference is that in the Japanese version Godzilla roared at the end, while in the American version Kong roared at the end. Who the winner was really is not clear to me, but Kong was supposed to be the "good guy."

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
I thought I remembered that in King Kong Vs. Godzilla, they wrestled their way into a lake and then only King Kong emerged. But then again, Godzilla lives under water, so...maybe he just went home?
Regardless, Gojira is way cooler. I did my final project in my high school Japanese class on Gojira.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
That is exactly what happenned. Many say Kong won, but others say it was Godzilla because he was more adept to aquatic environments. I still think Godzilla is much stronger.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
I think the people who made King Kong vs Godzilla didn't know who would win so they made it seem sort of like a tie

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
I agree.
I hear that a new Godzilla movie is coming out in 2014. I don't know if this is true or not, but I think that they shouldn't make another Godzilla film for a few decades to renew interest.

Not to be off topic but having endless sequels never hurt the characters 'Jason' or 'Mike Myers', who star collectively in nearly 8753 films to date.

I agree with this to an extent. Though in my opinion, Godzilla movies should only be made outside of the US. Because the US version was just horrible.
As you can tell, Godzilla get's my vote. King Kong has no chance.

Re: King Kong or Godzilla?
I agree. If a Godzilla film is made in America, it should be made by the Japanese.
What do you think the next Godzilla film we be like? I think that, whenever it is made, he should go into space.
