It's also nearly solely responsible for creating the genre of Puzzle games. If that isn't enough to make the list, I don't know what would be.

well for starters, a game in the best game ever category should at least be fun to play. i know that could be opinion based but when was the last time you heard anyone say the most fun game they ever played was tetris?

You guys did bring up some good points tho about it opening the door for puzzle games, but i just don't think it's enough. i'm allowed to have an opinion aren't i?

IMO the best game ever is SFII. IT revolutionized the button and stick combination system and lead to more intricate combo systems for games as a whole. This one game invigorated a whole genre of games and EVERY fighting game that uses QCF in it owes thanks to this one

Of course you're entitled to your opinion and your post is exactly that, opinion.
I know a lot of people who enjoy playing tetris(me included) so you're already wrong there. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's a bad game. I'm pretty sure most puzzle game fans would consider it the perfect game.

In the end, this entire poll is based upon opinion. If its any consolation, 36 of the 47 voters felt that Tetris did not deserve to advance forward.

I say it all the time, played it almost my whole life and its still a blast ^^.

I guess I'm just not as easily entertained. I personally find games that involve death and destruction a lot more fun than moving blocks around to form lines. It's all a matter of opinion, like I've said probably at least 30 some odd times already.

I guess you don't realize how much skill tetris takes compared to most games that involve "death and destruction". Some people enjoy skillful games regardless of how simple it may seem. Also I think it's harder to be entertained by a simplistic game compared to games with killing and stuff blowing up.
Maybe you should try to get a high score in Tetris, even in the top ten would be impressive.

You mentioned again how this is your opinion but you could've left of the subtle insult to avoid a back and forth about this.

I play it inbetween my Hack and slasher marathons XP Castlevania and Dynasty warriors for the freaking wins^^. LOL.

Ka boom is good, Tetris is just my simple, tired wanna play repitition or, puzzle game center^^. Still game I have played the longest and have had the most fun with over all lol.

EDIT: id try for a high score but dont have the time.. when I get rollling I can go for a long ass time..

Lol, i don't even know what to say to you anymore. why does everyone get so offended by the simple observations i make. i was not tryin to add any kind of subtle insult to anything about tetris. i am just not amused by rotating and moving blocks to form lines that then collapse, it's just not my thing.
