Re: all time favorite RPG

Tales of Phantasia or Star Ocean, love when they shout out loud a name of the name of the skill used ;p
Others, Final Fantasy 3(NES) and Seiken Densetsu 3 (Actually, it's just Secret of Mana 2)

Re: all time favorite RPG

I usually don't cry during games either. I got the DS remake, so I was sitting there playing it, then when Robo
( Click to show/hide )
got attacked
I was bothered, but not upset. When you actually saw his "human" side I actually teared.

Re: all time favorite RPG

this part of a game really broke my heart.

Awww i cant find it on youtube
its a scene from broken sword 3 i think where this guy gives up his own life so George and Nico can get out of the pyramid.

"There’s a scene toward the end (spoiler fans) where George, Nico and long-term friend Bruno are in a pyramid. It’s all coming down, and death is imminent. The dilemma: The only way to keep the door open to leave is for someone to stay inside. It’s sacrifice time. Now, this is not a new idea on any level, and killing someone to create an emotional response can be a sledgehammer technique. But Broken Sword did something clever."

Re: all time favorite RPG

wow. everyone has so many that they like. i also have tried shining force and all the FF games. still, chrono trigger is my #1 because the battle system is very enjoyable. also, who thinks rpg's have gone downhill in the next gen era? i bought the last remnant for my 360 and the game was pretty good until i forgot to save and lost a few hours of gameplay. i tried playing again but i can't even pass the second quest! the b-system was okay but i'd rather play classics anyday. who's hopeing for FFXIII to be a game that is enjoyable in the next gen era? and lastly, kingdom hearts 1&2 made me tear up at the end. mostly because it was the end and because of the really sad music. now i've pre-ordered the new KH DS game and when it comes out i will camp out all night outside the store in my goofy clown shoes to see roxas' past! anyone else get emotional at the end of KH2?

For the most part I agree. There's a few good ones but most I try just lose my interest. Also most games seem too focused on graphics and they drop the ball with story and character development.

They're great but not the best ever made. They both have huge, complex stories but they both suffer from problems. Morrowwind was awesome but it didn't balance well. At later points in the game your character was almost unstoppable. Oblivion was the opposite, they make the enemies match your level and you never get to be strong, imo that defeats the purpose of leveling at all. Hopefully the next game combines the best of both games.

Btw I guess this means you've played both? If so don't you agree that MW was much much deeper and more complex while oblivion was smaller and too simplistic? When I first got Oblivion I was impressed. After a few days my brother and I were slightly disappointed by the differences. Oblivion feels like it's holding your hand. MW dropped you in a town with just a note telling you to meet some guy.

Re: all time favorite RPG

@Dudebro~ Yeah I know exactly what your saying. I agree MW was way indepth while Oblivion was way opposite. That is one thing that made me angry. I think they did it that way to generate more sales. Not many people would play MW unless they are hard-core RPGers, as with Oblivion not so hard-core RPGers can get down.

About Oblivion being to simplistic and small I also agree on. But the expansion pack helps, and if you play on higher difficulty the enemies are much much harder. I usually start off at 75 or so, then when I get better equipped i go to 95-100. It makes it where your not a God like MW, while keeping it challenging. I like the leveing up system they have. It actually works on what you work on instead of random generated leveling like most others. One of the main reasons I lke them so much is the free roam. Imho I think thats what makes them stand above the rest. But I agree they need to make one that has both qualities of the two games.

Did you beat MW and/or Oblivion by chance? And do you think you got your money's worth?
