@Kong: You're lucky you can still be on the internet. Whenever my PC tears up, I always ended up getting a new one & it's always a year wait
before I can get a new one.

Geez, I hope nothing happens to this one.

I caught Kong today on g-talk. He is in the process of purchasing a new computer. Hopefully he is able to get any information he needs from his old one and then be ready to be back on-line with us later tonight.

UPDATE: New computer is on order (8-10 days) but he will be able to check in periodically.

@ somedude - a laptop is a computer. And I am aware of the benefits of a desktop. But a desktop does not fit in a back pack very well. I currently don't need my computer to fit in a bag though.

My laptop has some kind of electrical problem. It does not think it is plugged in but the battery still charges.

I spent the weekend researching a new computer to buy.
Desktop
Core 2 Duo E8200 1333FSB 6MB Cache. Equivalent of a 7.4GHz PIII
4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
3 year warranty.
Plus Case, fans, power supply, mother board etc. (I already have hard drives, cd drive, and video card so they are not included)
$480.

I didn't want to have to pay but I was excited to finally get a new PC.
And then yesterday I took the laptop apart, cleaned everything inside, plugged it in and it worked. Put it back together and it didn't work. Took it apart to check everything was OK, put it back together and it worked all night.
So I was disappointed that I could no longer justify buying a new computer but at least my old one was working again.
Then this morning the laptop died again.
So I just bought the above desktop.

I didn't pay for rush service so it will take 8-10 days.

Update. I tried to make one of these cables by splicing some different parts together. Something went wrong and I shorted out the power supply and that has set me a few days back. So still no computer.
