P.S. I hate and i mean HATE the phillies. i cant wait til after the all-star break so the marlins can beat on the phillies here at home. and I believe that we going to win the east this year... and make to the play-off. and win the world series.

I'm riding the Rays bandwagon but I don't see them winning the East outright. But I just do not see anyone making a move for the AL Wild Card. The White Sox are too strong to be overtaken in the Central, same for the Angels in the West. Unfortunately for my Angels, if they have to play the Red Sox (who they have matched up poorly against in the playoffs since '86, '86 for cryin' outloud) they will be in trouble. The White Sox are running on all cylinders but not enough to take over the champs.

The Cubs are the only team in the NL that I have any confidence in. The East is a mess, I pretty much flipped a few coins to come up with the Braves (Phillies falling fast, Mets are a dumpster fire, Marlins have their runs this will not be one of them, Braves aren't great either). The West will once again have the title of the "500 champion" and the invitation to the dance but will exit quickly, can't deny the pitching of the D-Backs though in the division.

The Cubs will finally get back to the World Series after over a century of missing the big game, but the Red Sox are too clutch, too experienced to be defeated. The Sox in 6.

are you serious...... bosten to win the world series... there not even going to win the east. i see the rays to hold on to that division... they (to me) are the best team in baseball right now.... not including the record.... every sane baseball fan knows that what keeps a team in a pennet race down the stretch is there bullpen. the rays bullpen has out performed bostens bullpen by far. and the braves winning the east?.... your insane. yea they has chipper jones haveing a career year. but they don't even know if there going to trade away mark tishaerea (sorry for misspelling). the mets are a mess also... and the phillies.... if ryan howard plays in the 2nd half just as bad as he did in the first half... then i don't see them winning the east... as for the marlins. there are looking up with dan uggla coming back from his ankle injury and josh johnson coming back from tommy john surgery. the only problem im seeing with the marlins is if that the bullpen dismantles.... there has been talks that the marlins have checked in on fuentas from colorado. so my perdictions arre

I could have taken that route and said Angels and Dodgers in the World Series, but that is not realistic, just like the Rays and Marlins in the Classic. Take off the Florida underroos and be realistic. If you're two teams make it to the World Series, you can have control of my sig for the month of November.

Yeah, I guess if he only leads the League in homeruns and RBI's in the second half the Phillies don't have much of a chance. They don't pay him to make contact and hit .300. They pay him to swing for the fences every time he's at the plate.

The only reason the Phillies won't win the East is if they keep making it look virtually impossible to plate a run with someone on third base and no outs. The only reason they're struggling now is their inability to play small ball when they need to, which is what they were doing throughout most of June.

Baseball's such a long season that it's hard to start making playoff predictions until mid-August, in my opinion. The only thing that I'll say concerning that is that there are a lot of teams out there that still have a legitimate shot at making it.

hey im going by history here if the marlins make it to the play-offs there going to the world series and the rays to me are a better team than bosten and angels.

@Billy: the only reason he's leading the league in home runs is because uggla is injured. and he's has been getting hot lately... but he's going to cool off..... you know like last years play-offs?

The entire Phillies lineup cooled off in the playoffs last season.

Two reasons:

1. They expended a crazy amount of energy catching the Mets. Seven game swing with seventeen games left in the season. Lots of emotionally and physically draining games in that stretch also.

2. The Rockies were playing out of their mind. Their record was 21-1 from mid September until they were swept by the Red Sox in the World Series. Their pitching cooled off a lot of players.

Uggla has been having a great season, but I think he's the one more likely to have his power numbers come crashing back down to earth considering he hasn't hit over 31 homeruns in a season. Ryan Howard almost did that in a homerun derby.

don't you think the rockies has emotionally and physically draining games? I mean with 17 games left they were like 10 game out of the wild card race. and that one game play-off vs san diego had to be the best game i ever seen. also a classic.

EDIT: game 7 of the 1997 world series was the best game i ever saw

The home run derby has absolutely no bearing on how a player or team will do. If that were the case, big bad Vlad and the Angels would have won.

I'm hoping the Angels catch lightning in a bottle and that they're starting pitching holds up. With K-Rod in the 9th, it's almost automatic (although he gave up his first career game-ending HR to Hamilton and the Rangers the other day).

your right... but the Marlins have good pitching this year. like i said before the only concerns i have with them is there bullpen and the bottom of the rotation. hopefully we can get Sanchez back which is very unlikely. and about the Rays. they don't need to win in Bosten if they win the east and not the wild card you see. Rays can't beat Boston in Fenway. but the Sox can't beat Tampa in Tropicna field

Well, I almost nailed the American League, and needed to blow up the National League. As for the playoffs, I may be close on the American League (still hope for my Angels after last night). The National League (now that it's half over) I'll be a homer and go Dodgers over the Phillies (sorry Billy). Here's hoping for an Angels/Dodgers October! ;D ;D ;D
