Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
Yeah, I agree. It's fun to be able to come online and have fun with people, joking around. That's the best part, I think of posting in forums. I guess some people can't take a joke. I also noticed when I'm trying to get feedback for some of my writings online, nobody wants to comment. It probably means I suck, but that's how you get better at things. By listening to the people you're writing for. When did the internet become so damn politically correct

Agreed, a lot of sites seem to have some sort of default etiquette that is enforced. It's like they expect all the forum members to act like some sort of British royalty conversing over tea and crumpets. Dull.

If you sucked I think you'd get more feedback about how much you suck. Are you talking about a blog? If so those are notoriously hard to get activity for unless you're famous or have some kind of hook to get peoples attention.

Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
Yeah, the link to my blog is in my signature. It's been awhile since I've done any writing, so it's been a slow process to get back into the swing of things. I need the help of other retro maniacs like myself. That's another thing that I was wondering about. Everything seems to be connected to Google + now (Blogger, Youtube, etc.) When the hell did they take over?

Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
I like seeing everybody on here participating in my crazy questions. It's too quiet in the forums, we need to shake em up a bit. Of course, I'll be severely hungover tomorrow, but that's OK. I've ran out of technical questions I think. Any other noob advice before this topic becomes dead?

It's always nice to see some activity in the forums. It's been too dead of late. You've been sparking things quite nicely since you returned

Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
What happened to you guys after I left. I remember this was a crazy place back in the day. Hell, Tenser (who I noticed ain't Tenser no more?) was always throwing his two cents in all over the place. By the way Tenser if your reading this, what was the name of that other website where you could play NES games we were a part of? I'd like to go over there to see what's going on but I can't remember the name of the site.

I believe that might be everyvideogame.com or .net, one of those.

Everyvideogame.com, but the site is dead and buried. RIP.
Short story, people left the site and no new people took their place.
In 2012 we had a few trolls come in and be obsessive over high scores to the point of driving many people away from playing games on the site. This was added to by the Twin Galaxies organization collapsing from within, and an article based on falsehoods linked Retrouprising to that controversy.
Many underage users from then are also just growing up, and have less time for the site.
Other than that, people just don't seem to want to post for whatever reason.

Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
Ah, well, that's kind of sad. But it seems this site is still doing well on the games part of it. We must now find new blood to take the place of all us old people before we die off! That's why I'm here. To remind the young ones of the great heritage of retro gaming and to keep it alive. Same way with movies and television. These memories should be passed down. Because I am in fear of where pop culture is headed. It's all about how good it looks and not about the stories. Hmmmmmmmm.

Without trying to start an age war, I'm sure that's what people said when Talkies were first introduced, or big band music, or telephones. :P

Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
I liked it. Not as a Robocop movie, but as a movie. I wouldn't necessarily say they ruined RoboCop since the original movie is untouched as well as the various other media Murphy has been in (outside of those horrid sequels).

Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
Yeah, I don't acknowledge the sequels either. They were just trying to a quick cash out on the franchise. I think they did a much better job with the Godzilla remake however. I don't know but Robocop just rubbed me the wrong way.

Re: I'm a noob please shoot me.
Though it's been tossed around in the industry a lot lately, just remember that the new RoboCop is a reboot of the franchise -- which I think was needed, since the only good that ever came out of the series was the first film. It's remembering that that I can somewhat excuse the tweakings of Murphy's origin into RoboCop, even though it still bugs me immensely.

I'm fully aware this site lives or dies by my hand. That being said, I have a really hectic personal life at the moment. I'm usually hanging out in the chat room during the evening in a drunken stupor if you need an immediate answer to a question.
Chat - Retro Uprising
I also plan on streaming a lot when my gaming rig arrives. Hearthstone, Minecraft, Steam games, etc on our official Twitch channel. Also probably some late night Japanese porn games on my private channel. Should be good times.
As for the site, it's in a bit of a disarray right now and I take full responsibility for that. Things will start to straighten themselves out in early July when my personal life gets back on track.
