Re: 2013's Most Impressive Game Clear
What it does boil down to Is what people know, your right about that. i guess its another main reason to be a donor, so you can actually see the playback of the game. I wouldn't suspect people to vote on games they know nothing about, but hey, thats what a lil research is for!To say a RPG isn't hard is a little over the top though..lol, Most of the votes for the other games actually came from a friendship thing so to speak or a joke amongst friends, However you want to put it, Thats why the jeopardy games made it in there. And as for FF topping PS, all I can do is smh..lol, Phantasy Star blows FF out the water in terms of Storyline and Gameplay. You are right about the Dragon Warrior Series...Thats an excellent franchise, I remember flipping the first one with my cousin at the age of 10. Sorry to get off topic.

Well, to be fair you don't need to be a donor to go to youtube. Anyone could easily search for these games on youtube and then make their own determination.
Traditional RPGs? I have yet to encounter one that couldn't be beat. And im not sitting here trying to boast i am just saying, with a little logic you can figure out what works and what doesnt. Once you've seen one you've seen them all.
One could argue the side quests or the arena's that give an exponential challenge but that is not really part of the game. It has no bearing on me beating it.
I also don't consider RPGs hard when it takes a 75-page map to figure out a dungeon. That is horrible design. Sure, there are times in RPGs where you encounter an enemy or boss too weak or not knowing what to expect.
If you want to branch RPGs into Action RPGs those aren't entirely hard either until you decide to crank the difficulty up to Hi, this is just dumb.
I dont know maybe i am being bias because i am pretty decent at games in general. I don't know. But that is my take on that.
You probably are right. Some votes come down to "friends or joking." But in the end, 90% of the games voted on, are games known to the public.
And finally. Lets agree to disagree. If im raised to believe red is blue and you're raised to believe blue is black. How can one sway the other. It would be pretty difficult.
FF all the way!

Re: 2013's Most Impressive Game Clear
You could be standing in front of Phantasy Star, or Donpachi, clearing either of them is a huge undertaking. For some people, clearing Phantasy Star would be the more difficult task, for others clearing Donpachi is the bigger challenge. It's all about the gamer, and no one person can say that, absolutely, one is more difficult than the other.

Re: 2013's Most Impressive Game Clear
Demon's Crest is an entry in the GnG series where you play as the Red Arremer / Firebrand -- yeah, that's right, the little guy who messes you up in Ghost's N Goblins.
Castlevania 3 not a classic? How isn't it? It introduced a good majority of the songs that would later be remixed in later games (Aquarius, Beginning, Clockwork, Demon Seed, Big Battle 1 & 2), it introduced the character of Alucard who would became a series icon, it had a huge world, four different endings, and just overall was the best NES CV.

FF4, 6, 9 and 10 would like to have a word with Lufia -- oh wait, the company's closed. Can't.

Crispy, don't be repping someone for taking shots at Neverland! The Rune Factory people were the Lufia people as well.

No Castlevannia 3, much like SOTN could be considered master pieces. At least imo.
@Steven - i won't disagree there. The more indepth shooters are only as complicated as you want them to be. With little practice one could blow through the game, use bombs to kill bosses and beat the game. Or they could try to chain entire levels for max points, which would IMO make the clear harder than PS. But that is not the case here and even so with a score of 600m i don't think many people would understand the undertaking to accomplish that on a 2-loop run.
