Re: Internet Gaming Bash of the Year
a couple things are unclear to me now.
first, has the decision not been made already? I had the impression Kong had made that point.
also I had the impression from wolfman that there was clear-cut evidence proving cheetah broke the rules even after a warning, hence getting DQ'd. so that sounds like a different bar to me.
about relatives, if my brother (MODUG at HS.com) had signed up & then messed it up & flaked out, I'm sure I would understand that reflecting on me, like as in hey Baz that was annoying. It wouldn't make me responsible for his actions though. I would understand dropping him from the tourney but not dropping me, that doesn't make sense as I don't control MODUG. I could admit it was a mistake & I thought he could do it but was wrong and apologize but that's as far as I would go. It would not make me guilty, just embarrassed.
I have nothing to say whatsoever against the sportsmanship argument. I will say that Kong's decision regarding cheating IMO sets the best precedent possible here as it shows RU has fair administrators who do not make judgements without proper grounds.

His family could only play and submit scores when they were over his house. That makes him responsible. Cheetah was DQ'd for using old scores. In either case, there is an issue with the scores and how they came about/submitted.

Re: Internet Gaming Bash of the Year
Due to Kernzy's behavior in this contest, I have decided to remove all of his scores and disqualify him for the remainder of the competition. While his own scores may be legitimate, he was unable and refused to provide adequate proof of the existence of his brother and cousin. This behavior goes against the desired honorable nature of the contest and as such I have decided to remove kernzy from the competition entirely.
This is my own decision not Retrouprising or any members of the staff.
I would like the thread not to be derailed so if anyone wants to talk about this they can just pm me or email me at vgwolfman@yahoo.com

Re: Internet Gaming Bash of the Year
I'm of the opinion that a yellow flag for unsportsman like conduct should have been thrown from the get go. This was a web site vs web site for fun contest and I think even if it wasn't against the rules, asking relatives to sign up for the Highscore web site just for the purpose of this contest was not cool. As far as I know, neither of these people have ever posted a score on any site so it gives the impression that maybe something a little dirty (call it a conspiracy theory if you'd like ) is going on.
The entire issue could be cleared up if Kernzy would just produce proof these people actually existed but instead perpetuates the conspiracy by coming up with nothing. It's kind of like the government not coming up with a picture that clearly shows an airplane slamming into the Pentagon. I actually find the irony in this to be very comical.
Edit: Sorry, was typing when those other two posts were made. Will not bring this up again.

Re: Internet Gaming Bash of the Year
Hi chaps,
It's rather unfortunate, all this.
1st. of all, i did provide proof of my brother. I gave his facebook account.
I can't give online proof of Pat, because he has no online existence.
To poke someone with sharp sticks and then say their reactions is bad is in my opinion, worse.
However, I won't be complaining about it anymore.
I understand I have to take responsibility for what my boys did. They meant no harm and were just having fun.
They have no idea how serious we all take this.
I must remind you, that all my own personal scores were legitimate. That is not how someone cheats.
To get some tongues wagging, i set a bomb jack score of 8,000,000 points dead.
I'm sure all of you would say the odds of that is about 1 in 8,000,000 ??
I enjoyed the tournament up to this point, and in no way hold any grudges against anyone who is involved or commented.
I am sorry for the big waste of time this has caused. Lessons have been learned.
All the best, and good luck,
Paul.

I see the scores as logged in the RU page but for example my Kung Fu Master score I submitted for the Competition is not listed in Top 5 and it certainly is for the RU team and in the Top 30 as well.

I think Bubbles is the only other one of consequence right now.
If I think of others I will let you know.

The reason is that your nicknames are different :
elrod for the score submitted but elrod21 on the F11 cellula (Retro sheet)
So the correction is easy to make for those who have the rights to do it like Wolf or TIF

Re: Internet Gaming Bash of the Year
I just wanted to say thanks to Wolf, TIF and everyone else involved. Hopefully there will be a contest next year!
Suggestions if so: Less games. An independent site with player presentations, game infos etc. I belive you have tons of ideas yourself.

Re: Internet Gaming Bash of the Year
Team EpiGrove. Thank you so much for entering the tournament and fashionably late, at that. Everyone else who participated from RU. Thank you for coming out and trying to bring home the gold. All and any score submissions are and were appreciated. Could pave the way for future efforts.
Thank you, again.
