Re: dead celebrities
Speaking of Major League managers, James Gammon, most well know for his role as "Lou Brown", manager of the Cleveland Indians in the Major League series died at age 70 from cancer.
Know for his gruff managerial stuff, he taught fundamentals with such knowledge as, and "Forget the curveball, Ricky. Giv'em the heater."
Not to mention he was a master at motivation.
@DB, from what I can tell, no federal or state flag was lowered for Steinbrenner. I forgot where you live, but you can check this link to see why the flags were lowered. They generally do a pretty good job at archiving that sort of thing. http://www.dailyflagstatus.com/6.html

Re: dead celebrities
I really liked his character in those movies. I hope he didn't suffer much before the end.

Re: True Opinion!
I HATE posting in here....that means another one of my favorite people growing up with is gone
Luna Vachon
WWE: Superstars > WWE Alumni > Luna Vachon > Bio
Former WWE, WCW and ECW star Luna Vachon was found dead Friday morning at age 48. Vachon, real name Gertrude Vachon, was found at her mother's home, where she had been staying as a result of a home fire that had destroyed her possessions.
Wrestling promoter and friend David Herro confirmed Vachon's death on his Twitter:
"With a broken heart I am crushed 2 tell u that one of the most amazing people I have ever known has died. God Bless Luna Vachon. I love u"
The Wrestling Observer posted news of Vachon's passing, but said no other details were known at the time of their report. TMZ reported that foul play is not suspected and an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
WWE extended their condolences via an acknowledgment on WWE.com.
Vachon made her pro wrestling debut as part of Kevin Sullivan's "Army of Darkness" stable in Florida Championship Wrestling in 1985. She was a part of the Vachon family wrestling dynasty that included her uncle, WWE Hall of Famer Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon, her aunt, former AWA World Women's Champion Vivian Vachon, and her father, AWA World Tag Team Champion Paul "Butcher" Vachon. Luna gained prominence competing for World Wrestling Entertainment, vying for the Women's Championship and teaming with Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania X. She had been competing on the independent circuit since leaving WWE in early 2000.
"It's a very sad day for wrestling with the passing of Luna Vachon," said Mick Foley of TNA Wrestling. "My heart is aching."
FanHouse will have more details as they are made available.

Re: dead celebrities
And here is ANOTHER one... R.I.P

NoDQ.com > WWE > Former WWE star Giant Gonzalez dies
Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 09/25/2010 at 02:09 AM
Former WWE performer Jorge González (a/k/a Giant González) passed away Wednesday in San Martin, Argentina, reports Argentinian news outlet Impulso Baires. He was 44 years old.
Sources from González's hometown, El Colorado, confirm that he was taken to San Martin after "suffering a decompensation."
González had been suffering from poor health for years as he was confined to a wheelchair and used a dialysis machine to treat kidney failure. It was announced last year that González would return to the United States in May 2010 for an appearance at the "Legends of the Ring: wrestling convention in Monroe, New Jersey. Ultimately, he was forced to cancel the appearance due to ongoing health problems.
Originally a basketball player, González was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the third round of the 1988 NBA Draft. When his NBA career didn't pan out, Hawks owner Ted Turner offered González a job as a professional wrestler with another of his ventures, World Championship Wrestling. After a year of training, González was introduced to fans as "El Gigante" on May 19, 1990 at the WCW pay-per-view, Capital Combat. He enjoyed a lengthy run as a fan favorite before parting ways with the organization in 1992.
González's jumped ship to the World Wrestling Federation the very same year and debuted as "Giant González" at the 1993 Royal Rumble, where he eliminated The Undertaker from the Rumble match despite not being an official participant. The move laid the foundation for a rivalry that lasted the length of Gonzalez's WWE career as he parted ways with the organization shortly after being put to rest at the hands of "The Deadman" at the 1993 SummerSlam.
González wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling before retiring in 1995 due to ongoing health problems. His last match took place on February 8, 1995 against The Great Muta.
González is the fourth former WWE talent to pass away within the past seven weeks, following Lance Cade, Luna Vachon and Mike Shaw (a/k/a Bastion Booger).

Re: dead celebrities
Really? I know of two of them and I don't remember them being good or very notable. Never even heard of the others. It's tragic but it's not like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan died in the same year or something.
That sounds harsher than I intend it to be, just saying.

Re: dead celebrities
Kanyon was primarily on WCW and was a friend and sometimes a tag team partner of Diamond Dallas Page.
But we have lost some other very legendary wrestlers from way back in the history, like back in the day of Lou Thesz and company. Altogether in the celebrity world it has been a bad couple of years.

Probably but he doesn't play kicker. Blanda was the only man to play both QB and kicker.
