No I don't, they arn't performing nearly as well as I'd like, but they are still in the mindset that quality is most important piece of the puzzle.

Hackers are a uncontrollable factor of doing business on the internet. They hit everyone on the internet, nobody is immune. To criticize a company simply for being hacked is silly. To criticize them for a misleading and delayed reponse is a totally different thing.

Depends on your definition of gamers.

If you include online gambling, Facebook games, and flash sites like Pogo and MSNZone as gaming, then yes.

If you consider only those who drop $30-$60 on a game the it's not even close to the majority. The majority of consoles and handhelds aren't even hooked up to the internet.

Besides, Valve just came out and said it, Sony lied about it for quite a while. That is the biggest difference.

Wii Accout - Downloaded a ton of VC and Wiiware
Seized #1 score on Gradius Rebirth (downloadable) for a while

Was #11 on international leaderboards for Sin & Punishment 2

Played Brawl and Mario Kart Wii online for a while (they suck online, but that's Nintendo's fault).

Had some fun with Mario Kart DS and Metroid Prime Hunters online as well. Still play Tetris DS online sometimes.

But obviously I don't know what I'm talking about right? There's gonna be a whole rebellion against online play and Call of Duty Elite right?

Oh right, Modern Warfare 3 broke all records for a debut launch compared against all other entertainment media, again, for the third time in a row (Black Ops and MW2 did it too).

So so much for that backfiring in spades.

Look, I'm not saying you have to love online play. I'm not saying you have to use online services (but didn't you download treasure dungeons or something online for Dragon Quest IX anyways?). Yes, pay-to-play subscriptions completely suck, and I agree with you completely that it's not a happy direction for the industry. Unfortunately we're all in the minority here, and will become more so as old school game concepts become obsolete to today's crowd and disappear entirely.

But I WILL hold my ground on the concept of online play and services, the fact that it exists is not a bad thing by itself (see Steam and Minecraft). However its current implementations by most companies are terrible (see Ubisoft and EA Origin).

If anything you not reading what they posted and randomly making an

talk about online gaming.

But that said, I think online gaming just changed video games,
Shooters have been around forever, but it was because of online
gaming they they blew up. Sports games also blew up because of
online gaming.

This is confusing. I assume it means Wii owners are inclined to be online gamers, but not just on Wii. I can't imagine more people play on their joke of an online service over the other two options.

@DB: As much as the online Wii service sucks, some games like Super

@SJB- I've played both online and both sucked. Brawl was laggy and the only way to play randoms was a anonymous mode where you can't change any options. MK played fine besides the terrible game design where horrible players are given huge advantages. Any racing game where the best strategy is to not be in first is just broken.

Why couldnt we discuss the steam situation? Why did the topic immediatly switch to Sony and Nintendo? They have absolutly nothing to do with the steam situation at all.

If you think that games are going fine, and don't see all these tiny little things adding up as a bad thing thing then don't post in the topic -it's not for you.

I'm sorry, and I realise I'm acting childish. I'm just frustrated with people who are downplaying the things I post as being un-important, when I see them as very important. The fall of the industry isn't going to happen in one fell swoop, it's a long gradual process of very small things, and they need to be talked about, rather than written off.
