Re: How did you find Retrouprising?
Don't worry about necroposting as long as you're bumping it to add something. We just don't want people bumping old topics for dumb stuff like "I agree with that dude who hasn't posted since 2006!".
I just took a look but didn't see the topic you were talking about at EVG, do you remember where it was? I'm just curious which member helped you.

Welcome Gregreyh! By your gaming habits here I assume you had an Atari 2600 back in the day perhaps?

How did you ever guess? LOL. I've enjoyed several of our back and forths on some of the Atari scores. I wasn't targeting your scores, just kept on running into you!
Thanks for the welcome RU Joe and samejamesbond!

I was originally looking for Destiny of an Emperor and StevenCassidy13 helped me find it. The original post was, "Long game and mostly chinese (mandorin)"
He was very helpful and Like I said before, I have been around before, just never got very involved with the community, but it's been very friendly so far and therefore I am more willing to be a part of it. Thanks again.

I actually came over through EVG myself. Granted, it was a long time ago when EVG was much more active, but it was nice to still keep up with the same community.
Actually, come to think of it, I think that the only people I remember knowing back then that are still here were Tenser, Cassidy, Jim, Tiamat, Cam, Joeguy, and Kong.

Re: How did you find Retrouprising?
Uncle Chicken posted a link for RU on Facebook.
And I know Uncle Chicken through Twin Galaxies.
Which I got into more after watching King of Kong.
Which I watched after my bro mentioned the guy saying "There's a kill screen coming up, if anyone's interested!"
That guy (I forget who it was) is a legend.

Re: How did you find Retrouprising?
My son wanted to make some scores and he asked me to make a subscription for him.
Now he is registered as Son of Sawys ^^
Even if he played often at mame, he used to play with a lot of credits but he learned a lot plaing like this. He impressed me at cowboy of moo mesa !! Now we have a competition between us ;-)

Re: How did you find Retrouprising?
I have been trying to beat the world record on Kung Fu Master (Atari7800) for about a week. I finally got the number 2 high score on Twin Galaxies and then found out you had to pay them to submit a score. Sooooooo I searched websites that track high scores or something like that and stumbled upon this site.

Re: How did you find Retrouprising?
I'm a long-time lurker at Mark Alpiger's CAGDC forum and there were one or two on there raving about this place. (I tried to search for the link but the search function requires a captcha-style thingme and it doesn't bloody work).
Also I think RU has one or two fans over at the Donkey Kong Forum.
For the fans of the 1980s classic arcade games like me, it's impressive that you have some of the real big guns of the hobby - Aart Van Vliet, Rick Carter, Ben Falls and others - as members, and yet anyone can join, anyone can submit and score, and anyone can join a bunch of likeminded freaks without the pressure of highscore attainment so much of the classic gaming community suffers from...
(Incidentally, I would much rather be a member and poster over at Alpiger's place than a lurker, but to join you need to be recommended by an existing member of the clique!!! Innarestin' way to expand an already niche community, no? )
