The treadmill thing looked like $500 if you were making it yourself.
The projectors could range from $200-1000. There were 6 of them.
The dome tent was probably $200.
The plastic gun could probably be improvised very cheaply - it had a wireless touchscreen attached which is probably a couple hundred but could also be done with out. The gun screen combo probably cost them $100-300. You could probably find another way for $50.
The paintball guns looked top of the line which is very expensive but you could probably do with a cheap $50 guns. They had 12. I think 1-4 would get the job done.
Not sure how much an xbox and kinect and game cost. But probably a few hundred.
They had several inferred cameras to track you, you could probably do with just the kinect or rig something up with a wiimote Johnny Lee style.
Software - make it yourself or get open source.
Plus you need rigging to hang the projectors etc. A few hundred.
The LEDs were for the cameras to track your movement. I think you could reduce the cost and increase the performance by attaching them to a suit. If you did that then $50.
Plus some incidentals money.
I bet if you cut corners and had the right skill set you could do it pretty good for under 10K.
I think they should have considered using a
head mounted display. That would have saved them nearly 10 grand and would have been easier and probably more effective.
