Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Is there any reason why this game can't be score enabled?
Retro Uprising - Arcade - California Games
I was gonna activate it myself but I wanted to check first to be sure I wasn't missing something. Btw it's actually a good version despite the graphics.

Maybe it glitches in score mode? Test it out.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Thanks that's the kind of thing I was worried about. Damn shame though since it's actually a fun version, better than the NES or Genesis ones. Next time I'll just try it for myself.

That's one of the bummers I encountered when I modded the 7800 games. There are just a ton that don't work in score mode. It has the highest ration of dead (Score Mode) games of any system I have modded.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Got another one for ya. This game loads up in both modes but neither seem to work. Full mode just sits there like something went wrong and displays in the wicked tiny screen that's actually kinda hilarious. Score mode loads up in full screen and plays like normal but I can't seem to get it to start a game. I can pause it with a button but Z and X won't register when prompted.
Retro Uprising - Arcade - Loopz
Hopefully it's just something I'm doing wrong. I was looking forward to playing this game.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Believe me I try from time to time but I'm just not that good at it. I like the concept and how bare bones it all is but I can't handle the pressure when the screen fills up. That game is unforgiving and challenging. I dare anyone to beat sabbys score. He can do better I bet but so far he's had no reason to.

I gave it a quick try. No doubt about it. Sabby's score is amazing.

That's why he's the Sabbinator. It's unfortunate that Sabby is often as busy as he is because he is easily one of RU's best gamers.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Has anyone tried Dizzy the Adventurer in Score Mode lately? I have been seeing some serious glitching that makes it impossible to play. arcadeOX Full Mode and Java Full Mode work just fine, but in arcadeOX Score Mode, well, just look, first of all the title screen is missing most of its graphics:

That's not the problem though, the story still proceeds normally and I can still hit Start on the title to start the game. When the game starts, the status bar is all covered up in gray except for the star and little Dizzy icons, although I can still move around normally.

But if I hit a button that takes me to the inventory, or if I just wait around long enough for the game to start giving me hints, I get totally stuck--usually it's just a blank screen with only the same icons that were visible on the status bar before, with the music still playing, and no buttons will ever work to clear it.

Sometimes, though, usually when I hit Select, the game will show a rapid series of crazy garbage screens...

So, yeah, I won't be getting my high score anytime soon with this happening. I don't think I've ever gotten it to work correctly before... But I tried Score Mode on some other NES games from the same company, and they ran fine. (Java Lite Mode also failed to load on them, but I think that's a separate issue that I should report elsewhere.) And there have been plenty of scores submitted for Dizzy the Adventurer already, one as late as May 22 2010, so either the emulator's been changed since then, or there's some hidden problem in my own setup. Just to answer all the questions, I'm using FireFox 3.6.13 on Windows XP, and I guess I would be willing to use TeamViewer as a last resort, but I don't imagine that will help with this kind of problem. The game does pop up in its own window in the usual amount of time, and I get the standard options to quit or continue when I press Esc, so I'm pretty sure it's just the NES emulation that's gone afoul with my ability to play the game.

Confirmed the glitch. I'll see if I can fix it using e-magic.

I know this glitch isn't exclusive to r.u., I watched some random "lets play" one time and the guy had the same glitches.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Nope, my e-magic has failed me. If Kong or SHK can't come up with something score mode will have to be disabled and all scores/masters deleted.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
But if score mode worked before, shouldn't there be a way to revert back to how it was when it worked? Did you already try swapping in a previous emulator? I'm not mad, I just wish I understood the situation. :/

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Score mode runs under different emulation than it did before. I could not find a rom that would work with our current score mode emulation. We no longer support the previous score mode emulator for security reasons. If there was another way I would gladly support it. Seahawk and Kong are far more tech savvy than I am so they might have an idea.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Game tested on:
MESS v140: Failed
MESS v135 (same as RU): Failed
MESS v128: Failed
Bad rom? Nope, works on NEStopia, and java mode.
PAL/NTSC conflict? Probably not, music sounds too low on PAL mode, and NEStopia marks it as NTSC anyways.
Now I'm just scratching my head on how Shnarf got it to work. And there's no recording to watch for his playthough. Hmm =/. Unless Kong knows something it's going to have to be score disabled.

All non coin-op games for score mode run the same emulator -- MESS v135. We can't change emulators on a game-by-game basis. On full mode they run different emulators specific to taht system which are more compatible.

Re: Information and Questions for the Mods...
Oh, wow... I'm sorry if you end up having to throw away all your scores, that wasn't my intention at all, I just wanted to see my own score! Well, better luck next time you do a site-wide emulator update, I guess.
I just remembered I forgot to mention in my bug report that I did remember to uninstall some old versions of the arcadeOX plug-in I had so that I would be offered the new version 1.6. For the longest time I had left in a plug-in that crashed FireFox whenever I browsed this site!

Uh oh, I just tried Linus Spacehead's Cosmic Crusade, and it looks like that'll have to be taken off from Score Mode too. (Not that Linus Spacehead ever had any score other than the extra lives counter; this just means the game is ineligible for The Game Masters.) Most parts of the game have mad flickering and backgrounds in the wrong places. It's not as bad in the action stages, though, and so it's actually sort of playable if you already know where everything is, except when I got to the bus stop with ticket and camera, I got stuck on a blank black screen. There's supposed to be a cutscene there, but I waited for much longer than the scene should have taken, and the music just kept playing forever. This is another CodeMasters game, so I'm thinking one of their later custom mappers isn't supported by this MESS emulator, and someone ought to check if any other games by CodeMasters/Camerica are incompatible.
