@WB regarding the 3d in ssf4, probably has something to do with the fact it is a port, and not originally designed for 3d.

I met a Mii today from street pass!!! His name is Riccio and were tottaly best friends now. He is in my plaza as we speak. My wife had the DS at the time and she's not sure where she might have picked him up.

I've been playing Ridge Racer 3D for well over five hours and I would really suggest it if you're a fan of arcade racing games.

The sheer amount of content (albeit repeat) is astounding. I've just finished the Beginner's Grand Prix which concists of 18 circuits with four races each for a total of 72 races. Yes, after 72 races I've now completed a third of one game mode.

Other single player modes (that I haven't tried yet) are:
Quick Tour - Randomly selected courses set for a certain amount of play time
Standard Race
One-Make Race
Time Attack
Street Pass Duel (Race ghosts of the devs and other players you connect to)

There's also a 2-4 player Versus Mode.

Don't get me wrong. The 3D still looks nice. I just think that it's not quite as impressive as the others.

Sounds like Ridge Racer 6 which is good. Also sounds like a big game considering it's on cartridge (I guess the cartridges can hold like 5 gigs now? How many gigabytes can a dvd hold?). Ridge Racer 6 has 250+ Races I think but it's difficult for some of the early ones even :-/

I don't know If I'll buy a 3DS for a long time though, I don't know. I want to but I'm also big on the idea of building a new computer at the moment considering this one is just like walking on eggshells. It blue screened on me 12 times two days ago.

3DS carts can hold between 2 - 8Gbs.

DVDs hold ~4.5Gbs.

You have your units wrong. For DVDs it is gigabytes (capital B). For 3DS cartridges it is gigabits (lowercase b).

1 byte = 8 bits

So a DVD is ~4.5GB, a 3DS cartridge is .25 - 1GB (256MB - 1024MB).

I was actually glad that you said that, it's the only game I got so it made me excited that the best is yet to come.

It is a good game. It's just when I quickly played all the games I had back to back it didn't have the same 3D pop as the others. It's still nice though. I have yet to see a 3DS game that isn't at least good visually.

I'm a little dissapointed with ssf4, everything about it is great, besides the controls. The slide pad doesnt have the response time needed for this game, the d-pad is excellent, but the placement renders it un-usable.

This has basically forced me to use the lite control scheme, whitch is still fun, but it's not gonna match the intensity of playing with an arcade stick.

I only tried it for a few minutes, but I could get most moves to work. However, i can see where multihit combos could be a problem.

Pulling off the specials is no problem, it's just changing directions takes too long. Like if I was walking away from my opponent, then wated to quickly walk towards them, it takes too long for the slide pad to go from all the way left to all the way right. And double tapping for a dash is almost impossible.

It's just the mechanics of the pad, It's gonna be excellent for other types of games, but not fighters. It just cant compete with the insta-clicks of the d-pad.

Looks like good reviews for the 3DS (as expected). I might be getting one as an Easter gift. If not, I'm definitely getting one by June. (Must have Paper Mario 4

I got my first Street Pass yesterday. I'm guessing it was either at Wal~Mart or Radio Shack while looking at media streamers. (Trying to hook up my NetFlix to the bedroom TV wireless.) Some dude named Sean who's a big Pilot Wings fan.

On a side note, next month is going to be a great 3DS gaming month for me. It's going to be hectic for sure. The e-shop will open as will the VC. I'll also be NetFlix capable and I just heard that the Thor 3DS game was developed by WayForward. I don't give a crap about the Thor ip but so far WayForward has done no wrong in my eyes and I've turned into a bit of a fanboy of theirs.

A Zelda game (Link's Awakening) and two WayForward games (Shantae & Thor) all in one month. Hawtt!!!

I tried a 3DS and the 3D honestly didn't impress me. It's cool but it was less than I expected, seemed like two static images pretending to be 3D.

How are the graphics of games with the 3D effects off? All I've heard about the graphics of any 3DS game is how the 3D effect works, and I don't like 3D. So, if all it has to offer is 3D, then I will definitely not be buying this, ever. If it does still look passable with the 3D effects off, then maybe I'll consider.

That's a really odd experience DB. I've never heard someone say that they only saw two static images.

I know the 3D effect in Ridge Racer is excellent. Objects have quite a lot of depth and occasionally pop out of the screen as well.

That was my impression of it and I tried it twice at two different gamestops. I know my opinion on this is automatically suspect though so I'll just leave it that and let the cj continue.

Ssf4 is kinda like that in places, anywhere that includes the 2d images from the original, looks like its just 3 seperate layers. As WB mentioned, not a great example of the 3d capabilities.

Upon further play, I think the best looking 3D to me is in Ridge Racer, Monkey Ball (though the range is particular in that one), and Samurai Warriors. Not every game is as impressive as others, but it looks nice to me.

@ DB, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. 3D isn't for everyone, but I am liking it so far.
