With Black Ops around the courner, how does it hold up?

Seems like a pretty good game. Although Im not sure if I want to buy it or not, I do want it for Christmas.

Looks like exactly the same game as the last nineteen Call of Duty games, or wait... is it Halo?
It's all the same to me.
Of course I won't be buying it, I do not have a PS3/Xbox 360/A computer capable of running anything more intensive than Starcraft, so I am incapable of playing it, but I wouldn't play it anyway.
Lucky me.

I know my brother is getting this game, he loves Halo and CoD.
He'd play it for every day of his life if he could.

Wow, that's devotion. All I heard at school today was:
"Hey, guess what? I got Black Ops last night, I couldn't play it though."
"Hey, you wanna know what I heard was in Black Ops?..."
"I can't wait to get Black Ops tonight."

There are three game series' that people in high school don't shut up about once they are released:
Pokemon
Halo
Call of Duty.

I usually have no problem when people keep jabbering about a new game release during school, but I'm getting tired of First Person Shooter games. There's no chance in pants that there's going to suddenly be a lot of craze for an upcoming Castlevania game or Wii Verb/Noun game, but it seems like it's the same thing going on every time.

If that's true then you have a terrible eye for video games. Besides being FPS games they look and feel nothing alike. COD games are trying for gritty realism and Halo is more like a sci fi movie blended with an arcade game. I know you don't care but it's getting old to hear this kind of thing. It's like saying there's no differences between Mario and Sonic games.

+1 for posting that video SJB. That's the first one I've seen that was impartial and honest about it. I already voted no but now I'm on the fence because of the video. It looks a lot like MW2 but much, much better.

I like the idea of a new venue. Vietnam was never done yet (right?) and the water mission looks pretty cool and unique.

And in the video, it said you are various players correct? That as like in MW2 a little bit. The other games have usually 1-3 main characters.

There's been plenty of games set in Vietnam over the years. Just a quick look on google will tell you that, here's a list of some of the more recent ones-
Vietnam War Era games

Also I think the new Bad Company game is being set there. Personally I think it's lazy to go back to that, like making another WW1 or 2 game. I prefer modern war games that showcase current or future conceptual stuff.

Blue Hedgehog/Fat Plumber needs to traverse a linear section from point A to point B by running and jumping while evading/attacking enemies.

Space Marine/War Hero needs to accomplish mission objectives in a closed three dimensional plain while engaging in first-person perspective gunplay.

I actually meant for Call of Duty only. Probably should of made that clearer in my previous post...

Sure, in the same way that not all RPGs are the same. If you wanna be overly simplistic because you hate the genre then more power to you but it doesn't change the facts. Besides basic game mechanics they are not the same.
