Missile Command and Centipede Movies In The Works

Atari has partnered with a movie production company in order to create films based on their Missile Command and Centipede games. With the somewhat recent disappointment of Pixels, I'm kinda surprised that Atari is pushing this so hard. When are the studios going to learn that video game movies almost always end up sucking?

Is this serious? Their goal is to promote gambling and LGBT rights (what?)and they chose Centipede and Missile Command? Might just be crazy enough to work.

Also Monopoly the Movie.

That's just pathetic. I guess it's an easy way to get the "brands" under our eyes...
Seriously though... why not make a new centipede... think Mario Kart 7 or 8, but instead you are ripping through a 3d game of centipede. Add in multiplayer and really fast gameplay, and you got hours of fun.

When I read the title of this thread I thought it must be a joke .. then I remembered Pixels

This only confirms what I've been saying about Hollywood for years, that they've run out of ideas {for the most part} and are desperate to crank out anything they possibly can A.S.A.P.

On another note, I don't think the problem lies with the concept of video game - based movies but rather in the content and execution of them.
For example, Bloodrayne

and Alone In The Dark

were 2 games with great movie potential but sadly were put to ruin by the one and only Uwe Boll.

DOOM was an example of how to do it the right way, in my opinion.

I still enjoy this movie, even though I haven't watched it for a while now.

Yet some part of me is kinda curious about how you turn this Missile Command » Coin Op and this Centipede » Coin Op into movies ...
