The problem is all the power that a dictator gets when in office. Sure at the beginning a dictator could be noble and what not, but eventually the power goes to their head and suddenly nobody in the free world want to deal with you and your country is stuck driving nothing but 40 year old vehicles and no internet.

or better yet, you could sleep with the dictator, and he would give you control of some city/town/garrison, something like that.

Sounds like the route we're heading with Obama.

He's currently at "power goes to his head" imo.

@Tails, Why is that your opinion? Based on what?

---------- Post added at 04:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:22 PM ----------

I was thinking about this the other day. RU is a dictatorship and I am the dictator. But it works well, I think. So why can I do it and Castro and Sung can't? Then I figured it out.
1. I want people to come and stay here.
2. People can very easily leave whenever they want and never come back.
3. I am a rational, level headed, friendly person with good ideas, and the skills to enact those ideas.

A dictatorship can work very well if all three of those rules are constant. Dictatorships always fail because of #2 and sometimes #3.

I see your point, having sex with someone you want to have sex with and getting something else out of it is a great win-win. I didn't see that as the point of the topic.

Re: Bribery for promotions?

This isn't the place to argue about dictatorships, but there could be ways that a dictatorship could work perfectly.

Not even close but I can understand why people would think this will all the negative media attention he gets. Do you think he's more of a dictator than Bush? I mean the G.W.Bush who vetoed Stem cell research because of his religious beliefs even though we expect this technology to help countless people and possibly let people walk again after spinal cord injuries. How about how he initially asked for UN support to go to war but then pulled out when it was obvious that he wouldn't get the support? Or how about how he approved those illegal wire taps and warrentless searches? The list goes on, Obama is no where close to how bad Bush was but republicans seem to miss that fact when they make obama out to be satan reborn.

I'm hearing stuff on the news about the loopholes he put in it, and I never did like like him. Something about Children with premedical illness SHOULD be denied?

..and that's why we like you Kong. :P

@DB: At least Bush tried to do stuff, even if it came down to wire tapping. We didn't have much problems when he was in office.

Re: Bribery for promotions?

@tails - so basically your saying that it was ok for Bush to break the law in order to get something done? ...I guess if people don't have a problem with that, it's only natural that one would say there weren't too many problems while Bush was in office.

You mean pre-diagnosed not medical. Check your source. They either deliberately or accidentally misled you. Under the new plan insurance companies can NOT deny someone because of pre-diagnosed illnesses. A good thing unless you are a cold hearted bastard that doesn't care about other people or society as a whole.

So it's ok as long as he kept trying. It doesn't matter that he was was one of(the most?) unpopular president in history?
Obama is trying to do stuff, it's the other side who is doing everything they can to block him and turn the people against him. I guess that didn't matter to Bush, he just did whatever he wanted. Btw Bush had 8 years to screw up the country, Obama hasn't even been in for two.
