Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
So I finally got my hands on Pokemon Heart Gold this past week. The game (or games) is freaking fantastic. It exerts nostalgia, and I’m genuinely having a fun time playing it. Therfore, I would take the game with me to my classes and play with other people that also have the games. Then some jerk comes up to me.
“Really? You’re playing Pokemon? How old are you?”
I am 22 years-old, *******, and if I feel like playing some damn Pokemon, then I should be allowed to. It seems like now, a lot of people now would rather skip a genuinely fun game not because they have a problem with the gameplay, but because they’re either too “mature,” “macho,” or “good” to play it.
( Censorship mine)

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
Pokemon hasn't changed what so ever, name one thing new aside from new Pokemon.
But on topic, the game was most likely geared tword children.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
this whole "Kiddy" sticker attached to the pokemon games are lame, I can understand the shows getting that label since they are meant for little kids but shows are different. I've enjoyed the games for 10+ years and I played through red and blue at least 3 times each, not all the way through each time but whatever. Pokemon is the ONLY game that can hold my attention for more than a week straight, normally I jump from game to game within a day, I normally don't like long-term commitment games. Pokemon is an exception and that has to say something, I just bought emerald and am enjoying it immensely. I have played Red, Blue, Pearl and now Emerald. My brother had Chrystal but I wass never allowed to play it and he gave it away to a kid that lost his.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
The games just lead you by the hand too much, the monsters are way too cute, the attacks are tame, graphics in general remind me of sesame street, the challenge factor isn't there, story is pretty much non existent.
Although just because I thought it was a little too childish for my tastes, I would never consider any one who liked the game a loser, no matter what age they are.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
good, my 21 year old brother like it as well as myself and many others, even adults. I like being able to choose whose in my party, I like the Eevee things especially, can evolve into any type. I plan to get 4 of them now that I'm playing emerald.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
I was very exicted to get Popolocrois for PSP and I didn't care that my aunt bugged me that the ESRB on the box says 3+... although looking it up on internet I found it says Everybody... but my box says 3+ and I play it half happily... it's good, but not that great... I'd honestly rather play pokemon... and I wouldn't care what anyone thought about it.

Pokemon is a great "pick up and go" game.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
How so? I could pick it up once every 3 - 7 days and play for a few hours. It's not like it's difficult to master or get back into.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
point taken but it is an RPG and RPG's are not something you can normally just play here and then. YOu lose track of what you did last time. RPG's need time commitent, pokemon needs about 30+ hours to beat it and that is what I mean.

In a Pokemon game? Why would you need to remember? Talking to at most five good people easily makes you aware of nearly everything going on.
I can't bring myself to play Nintendogs in public. Just doesn't seem right.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
I know but if I leave a game for several months I just forget what I've done and what I was planning and just feel like starting over anyways.

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
I find it awkward because my mother loves the pokemon games (except Battle Revolution for the Wii,) and she'll be 44 this year in june. So much for it being for the little kids folks

Re: Stop Being Embarassed and Just Play
The best "Pick up and Play" game I have ever played was WarioWare, which is amazingly addicting.

It ruined my life completely.
