bioshock 2
I absolutely loved the first game, and could not wait to get the sequel. I just cannot get into it, bought it on the release date. It just doesn't seem like the first game. I was really excited about the multiplayer, have not even tried it yet. Maybe i am dead inside...

I didn't play either yet but I hear good things. My friends are playing 2 but so far I haven't heard any complaints.

Re: bioshock 2
Someone I know told me they bought it and ended up not liking it at all. I'll probably be borrowing it soon. I've never played the first game so I'll be a little lost. I can probably just youtube up the important cutscenes to catch up.

Just play the first one instead. It's super cheap these days and really awesome. I don't think I've heard anyone say the second is better than the first.

Re: bioshock 2
Don't do it, Dudebro! Just play the first one. Then decide if you want to play the second.
I mean, the general consensus is that the first one is better, even by those that like the second one.

Re: bioshock 2
Well, I've been intrigued with Bioshock for a while now. The second should be just as good.

Re: bioshock 2
I am of the opion that sequels do more harm then good on a property. Either an sequel destroys or harms the reputation of the prerequisite by just being bad or the sequel ends up being so good that the first one is overshaded.
I watched my bro' play the Bioshock1-demo and I loved it. I never played or touched the full version though.

Re: bioshock 2
I disagree. The Mario series is a case in point. An appropriate counterargument could be made for a few of the Zeldas.

Or Indefinite Fantasy... but that would be like picking straws or whatever. My point still stands as it has been proven numerous times in history that an sequel more often ends up doing harm to the property then doing good.

Re: bioshock 2
But for every sequel that fails, you have more that don't. Resistance 2, the sequel to Resistance Fall of Man, is a prime example. Or Gears of War 2. Neither have overshadowed their predecessors.

Unlike movies, sequels in gaming tend to move forward, not backwards. Movie sequels just have a tendency to fail (Ghostbusters 2)
Metal Gear Solid 2 really helped the series along and helped the name, hell it even brought into the fanbase a whole new crowd with Raiden (even though he sucks).
Each Street Fighter game is better then the last, and the same holds true for most fighting games.

Re: bioshock 2
Mega Man 2, DKC 2, Mario 3, all have over topped their predecessors. They didn't do harm and I can't be bothered to remember anything else.

Re: bioshock 2
See? Anyway, it fails to convince me sequels are bad. Movie sequels and remakes maybe.

Re: bioshock 2
They are remaking things that shouldn't be done. Gilligan's Island for example! I don't know where my brother found that, but it's true.

Re: bioshock 2
They are remaking Gilligan's Island? That's just not right, who could be Gilligan, Skipper, or any of the other characters?
They are also *sort of* remaking The Karate Kid, but with Jakie Chan, Will Smith's son, and they are setting it in China. Last time I checked, karate was Japanese (though you couldn't tell from the common mispronunciation of the word). So technically it will be The Kung-Fu Kid.
On the note of pronunciation of Japanese words like "Karate" it works like this
a sounds like ah, i sounds like ee, u sounds like oo, e sounds like ay and o sounds like oh. Extensions just make the vowel sound longer, so Karate sounds like Kah-rah-tay.

Re: bioshock 2
I'm not sure, but I believe China has its own style of martial arts. Then you have the benign style known as Tai Chi.

Right, but karate is still Japanese, either way.

Re: bioshock 2
The only good thing about this Karate Kid remake is Jackie Chan. Sure he's actually Chinese but I'm sure we can all understand why they'd go with Jackie, can you name a Japanese martial artist who's as popular? Also Jackie is like a martial arts guru at this point. I'm sure he'll do justice to the traditions of karate. He takes his work seriously and he's very talented.
So this brings up the real question, why Will Smiths kid? I think he will make this movie a flop.

Will Smith's kid, because: A) It's Will Smiths kid, B) he looks like he'd be extremely weak, and C) If they are going to change the location to China, why not choose a kid who is completely different.

Re: bioshock 2
I think it's more about Will Smith doing whatever he can to get his kid a career.
