Well, onward and upward we go gentlemen.
Welcome to the very basic but very challenging course of the NES original title of Golf.

Total Distance - 6,300
Green - Is the direction of the slant of the green. It only goes in one direction and N is the top of the screen.
This one is very similar to the NES Open controls:
Up/Down - Adjust club selection
Right/Left - Move directional arrow to aim shot.
A Button - Starts swing - Selects power - Determines accuracy (according to how close to the bold white contact box you are).
NES Golf has a unique aiming system in that you only have 8 directions to aim. So how do you pinpoint where you want the ball to go you ask? You have to hook or slice the ball to get it to go exactly where you want it to go. How do you do that (you ask a lot of questions)? To put it as simple as I think I can, to make the ball curve left, you want to hit late (right) of the bold contact box. To make it curve right, hit it early (left) of the contact box. The further away from the box you hit it, the more curve you will put on it. Always consider the wind strength and direction when you set up your shot.
This tournament is going to be a little different then the last one. This one you need to create a keystroke movie to register your score. In order for Hobbes and I to see it you have to make the movie public. This is what you do:
1 - Click the link below to transfer over to the game.
2 - Hit F8 (some keyboards have a function lock key, make sure it is on) to start the movie recording.
3 - Play the round like you normally would.
4 - After the 18th hole, let the game go until the title screen has come back on. That is when you will hit F8 to stop the movie.
5 - The Save State menu will appear, save it to any of the 19 slots you have.
6 - Go to the More tab above and go to My Save States.
7 - Your Golf save should be the top save state. In the description type something (Might I recommend "Golf Round 1", or something similar). Push the Share button.
8 - Once the page has reloaded, Right Click the link above the save state and select Copy Link Location.
9 - Go to your PM and paste the link into a PM and send it.
Another difference that will become permanent will be scores will be accepted from Sunday to Saturday since weekdays can get crazy, we'll have a weekend to get them in. The deadline will be 11:59 EST, so set your clocks accordingly.
So here are the dates:
Round 1 - April 15 - 21
Round 2 - April 22 - 28
Round 3 - April 29 - May 5
Round 4 - May 6 - May 12
And just so everyone knows, on the final round, I do not look at the scores until I post mine to Hobbes. So don't feel you need to wait until the last minute to get your scores in.
Get a feel for the course. Some of the holes are crazy. Get used to how far each club can go, this game does not have club distances, so you might want to get used to each of your clubs to get a true feel for them.
Handicaps do not start over. They carry over from round to round, tourney to tourney.
If there are any questions, problems or I forgot something post it here.
