DS or DSi...??
Please read this thread before responding.
I have thought about purchasing a DS for awhile now. With the Dsi on the market now I was wondering what to get now.... DS? or DSi?
I do own a PSP, so I already have mp3, video and wifi capabilities with it.
I see the biggest advantage to the DSi (IMO) is the larger screen. Would it be worth it to pay the extra bucks just to have a larger screen? Is there something else about the DSi that makes it a "must buy", besides wifi/mp3??
So basically I'm asking for opinions from present or past owners of the DS/DSi to guide me into the right direction so I don't make a purchase I may regret a little later.

Re: DS or DSi...??
well for me, the decision lies in how well the dsi will run homebrew applications, also wifi picture chat (where your actually talking) would be really cool. the bigger screen i dont really care about. also its a little bit smaller as a whole, what the japanese dont realise is that the rest of the worlds hands are 20 percent larger than theirs (guess) so this is a negative change as far as im concerned. im gonna wait to see what all this thing is capable of after the homebrew programmers get a fair shake at it.

Re: DS or DSi...??
If you want to be able to play GBA games or Guitar Hero on it, get a regular DS. If not, then definitely get the DSi. It has a camera, which is pretty cool, along with an internet browser and DSware you can download. Its not worth the $170 to someone who already owns a DS, but if you don't already have one of those, get the DSi.

Re: DS or DSi...??
TNT is right. I own a regular DS, which is why I would not waste money buying a DSI just because it has a camera and and Mp3 features. That is why I have an iPod and a Camera.

Re: DS or DSi...??
I just bought a DS and before I did I did research on the diff between the DS and DSi. I don't really like what I see with the DSi. I don't want it for the camera or MP3 either, and it sounds like the speaker on the new unit are worse than the old.

If you don't have a GBA buy the regular DS. Hands down best choice.

Re: DS or DSi...??
My opinion?
Well besides the fact that nintendo is getting overly creative and annoying, I'm probably just annoyed because my touchscreen was scratched like mad by my cousin in the first month and it irritates me.
If you have a regular ds already don't sell it for the dsi.
If you like wii ware and the VC on the wii Dsi is the way to go.
If you like wiiware and the VC but like GBA, Go to a pawn shop and buy a GBA and a dsi at a regular store.

Re: DS or DSi...??
personally, regular ds is probably best with gba capability... camera and mp3 stuff is cool, but if you have a camera and an ipod/mp3 thing there's no point really... unless you're camera and mp3 thing is really crappy

Re: DS or DSi...??
I checked and the DSi can run homebrew , 'DSTTi' flash cardclaims to work with DSi.
Wikipedia says that they also upgraded the wifi, so you can connect to WPA amd WPA2. THe original DS could only connect to WEP, which isn't used as much anymore. If you want more options to connect to internet, the dsi might be what you want.
Seems that it still has an ARM 7 processor in it (the GBA processor), so maybe there will be a homebrew launcher that comes out that will play GBA roms. If the ARM7 processor is still there, and the DSi is using basically the same insides, then the only obsticle is not having the card slot, which can might be able to be worked around using the SD slot / Flashcard.
I agree , a video chat feature would be really awesome!!!

Re: DS or DSi...??
I'm still undecided. I will probably wait until fall to get one. I usually don't do much gaming through the summer months anyway. I will check prices after summer and decide from there.
Kinda leaning towards the dsi though as of now.
