Has anyone played the GTAIV expansion, The Lost and Damned"? I'm debated if it is worth the 1600 microsoft space bucks.

I've been told it is about 1/3 the length of GTA 4 itself.

I didn't like GTA 4 much, so I'm not interested.

I didn't like GTA IV as much as Vice City, but it's still pretty good (I haven't finished it either though.) I have only seen a little bit on the expansion. You play as a different character right?

San Andreas is my favorite GTA. GTA 4 just wasn't very fun to play. I played it all the way through going, "Oh man, this game is about to get awesome!" and then my ending was very anticlimactic, and it never took off.

You play as a new character in the expansion pack, yes.

I got the ending where nothing happened...haha.

I don't remember it too well. I chased a helicopter and then ramped off some ramp while driving down the beach. And Little Jacob was there.

YES!!!! exactly the same here there wasnt the same fun in the missions as in san andreas but its still fun to try to shake the cops

It sounds like San Andreas is pretty popular (hot coffee aside). I'll have to check it out. I kind of missed out on playing it when it came out.

There was nothing wrong with that mod. Only adults should be playing the game anyways(legally at least). I see no reason why an adult can't choose if he wants to see animated porn or not.
I'm sick of uptight morons. They'll accept running over cops but not two people having consensual sex. Idiots.

I love the West Coast gangster theme. It's awesome.

The hot coffee mod made me giggle, because CJ never takes off any of his clothes. :P

I agree with you. I was saying that the game is popular but not just because of the hot coffee mode. I agree that the prudish manner of a lot of people really does the game industry a disservice. I think that if a game is rated for adults it should be okay for adults. I think many people still think that games are "just for kids" so it becomes a controversy when a game has adult content. This shouldn't be the case, but I think the trend is slowly changing.

It's not just games, all media needs a change. It's messed up to allow brutal violence and not sex. If anything we should try to stop violence and increase the amount of sex people have.

It just makes no sense to allow games like GTA, Mortal Kombat and other gore fests and then flip out over a simulated scene involving consensual sex(and it's his GF, not a hooker).
Anyone with half a brain knows that ANYONE can google porn and find it better/faster that way. If GTA is your outlet for porn you have bigger issues, like no internet.

My perspective is that publishers should be able to put whatever (legal) content they want in a game. The rating is supposed to give parents/people the information, so they can make a decision based on what they want to play (or let their children play). I think it is a ridiculous situation when people in the U.S. Senata/Congress (H.O.R.) tries to make video games some big political issue, but no one talks about the same content in films. In a way the video game rating system should be more effective than even the film rating system because there are more rating categories, but I think a lot people are still becoming acclimated to the idea that there are video games that are made solely for adults. Porn is more prevalent and easily accessible than ever before which features real nudity (not to offend you hentai lovers out there), but than a video game puts little animated characters doing the horizontal tango in an adult rated game, and it causes a huge cultural tumult. It's pretty crazy to me.

I talked to a woman who honestly thought violence was ok as long as there was no sexual content when buying her young son a game. I really didn't know what to say. I wanted to punch her in the face and say "hey at least I didn't rape you" but I thought it would've been somewhat preachy.

LOL! That's one of the best things I have heard in awhile. I spit out the popcorn I was eating somewhere across the room and haven't yet found the missing piece. It's such a true point though. I guess that's why a lot of the world sees Americans as immature in a lot of ways. Sometimes it's hard to argue with that assessment when situations like that happen. To jump to a different thread briefly, I think the Canadians have us U.S. folk beat in that area overall, as they seem to have a much more casual view of sex - even if their country i shaped naughtily. I have a co-worker who is the same way as the person you mentioned. She let's her young kids watch horror movies and pretty much anything as long as it doesn't have any sexual content. She has told me that she just doesn't want them thinking about sex too young. I guess it's cool if they think about murder too young, though.

Indeed. And if for some reason they are still violent at least they still will have gotten laid. ;D Seriously, I don't understand why there is a ratings system if everyone then still tries to say what can and can't go into a game.

I really don't have a problem with ratings on games. I think it's a great idea to list the contents of a game so parents know what's in it as well.
Everyone knows that most parents have no clue about video games. Of course that's changing with the video game generation growing up but it's still there.
But you're right. What's the point if parents are just going to ignore the rating and pick one item on the list and ban the game from thier house? If a game has "strong sexual content" than you can kiss it goodbye when it comes to most parents. "graphic violence" doesn't seem to register with most people. Frustrating.

Indeed. It just doesn't make sense sometimes. I think the tide is beginning to change, but alot of times it seems like it is one step forwards and two steps back. Look at the whole debacle with Manhunt 2 a couple of years ago. It almost made the company go bankrupt (or maybe did. I can't remember).

Manhunt is rated M. That means if you are under 17 it isn't for you.
Manhunt is a great game. I played it all the way through.

Simulated violence is fine. Just not for people that aren't mature enough to handle it.

Rockstar made the Manhunt series. I don't see them going bankrupt anytime soon.
