Best sport games on RU?
I'm torn between sports. I like them in that I love to play them, but not enough to want to watch the games, except for hockey (that game gets intense).
Sports games, however, I find incredibly fun to play oddly enough. I've never played a good majority of the sports games on SNES, 64, GEN, ARC; etc. and with all these scores being posted, I've gotten in the mood to play some of the best.
So, sound off RUsers!

I also like all the Tecmo Bowl games.

Superbaseball is awesome for sure.
NBA Jam is one of my favorite sports games. It plays really loose with the rules though.
California Games is fun too, if you can deal with how old and awkward it is.

Oh yes Baseball Stars is another awesome game. The gameplay itself is a little boring and ugly but the manager parts are fun, which is not something you usually hear.

The gameplay is really good, probably the best baseball game on the nes.

Good but you have to admit it's bland looking and kinda meh. It may be technically sound but exciting it is not. I remember playing it and other baseball games and we always just accepted that the gameplay wasn't that important really.
After watching a video of it I think I'm confusing the gameplay with another baseball sim I can't think of. Still ugly though.

To me I thought it looked amazing, I don't think any baseball game looks better on the nes. (and none play better either)

Re: Best sport games on RU?
Super Tennis on the SNES - legendary! Brilliant! Awesome!
If you win all tournaments you get to play a mystery opponent... so make use of RU's most helpful save state function as it's a long game.
Also, there are some great soccer games. Euro Football Champ!

Also, if you have time, a bit of patience and fancy something different, Brian Lara Cricket on the Genesis is good fun.

Re: Best sport games on RU?
Super Tennis was actually a lot of fun. I remember playing it on one of those 3 in 1 Nintendo arcade machines with a friend of mine. People must've thought we were crazy for not playing whatever super mario game was in it and F-Zero.

Re: Best sport games on RU?
It's not about respect, it's a lack of bothering to look up which one it was. I assume it was SMB3? Either way everyone owned two copies or so anyways, why waste the quarters to play it timed?

For the same reason anybody played arcade games: to beat the score. On the NES, your score wasn't saved after you hit the power button. On arcade machines though, your score was forever immortalized in three letters.

Re: Best sport games on RU?
You'd be pumping a bunch of quarters to get a decent high score. I think it gave like 2-3 minutes for 50 cents. Tennis was better because it gave you a whole match if I remember right.

Re: Best sport games on RU?
"One alternate version, Vs. Super Mario Bros., [31] is nearly a separate game in its own right. This game, one of several games made for Nintendo's NES-based [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_arcade_cabinet"]arcade cabinet[/ame], the Nintendo Vs. Unisystem (and its variant, the Nintendo Vs. Dualsystem), is based on Super Mario Bros., and has an identical format. The stages, however, are different; the early stages are subtly different, with small differences like the omission of 1-up mushrooms or other hidden items, narrower platforms and more dangerous enemies, but later stages are changed entirely. These changes have a net effect of making Vs. Super Mario Bros. much more difficult than the original Super Mario Bros.[32] Many of these later, changed stages reappeared in the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2."
Well then.

Re: Best sport games on RU?
That just means you'd be wasting even more quarters.
