Squall Leonhart: Awesome or Not?

Squall Leonhart, protagonist of Final Fantasy VIII and supporting character
of the Kingdom Hearts series, is one of the coolest and popular video game
characters known to date.

My Dissidia friends think Cloud is cooler than him, what do you think?

FACTS:

- He defeated the Warrior of Light in Dissidia. (Not even Sephiroth could do that.)
- He's the first non-FF7 character to fight Sephiroth.
- He was willing to fight Exdeath for Bartz.
- He never lost a fight in Dissidia.
- Almost every one in Dissidia call him the Lion.
- Sephiroth calls him a beast.
- He's one of the few people who can wield a gunblade.
- He actually defeated Sora in Kingdom Hearts.
- He led the army against the heartless.
- Both he and Cloud have held responsibility of watching over Aerith, only in his case (Kingdom Hearts) she lived.
- In fact while Cloud couldn't save Aerith once, Squall saved Rinoa 4 times.

of his friends, killed Odin, kidnapped his girl and gave her to Adel, etc. While
Cloud was the one asking for forgiveness in Advent Children.
- In most stories, students fall in love with their teacher. But in his case Quistis fell for him.
- He's defeated not 1, not 2, but 3 evil sourceresses.
- He finished Ultimecia before she could finish her evil speech, and she stayed dead.
- When told by a mysterious voice to leave the area, he not only ignores it, but then
proceeds to defeat two dragons, and answer a cryptic question with a
wise response, and he then destroys the king of dragons, and makes him his pet.
- Has a 3 headed dog for a pet, and a demon.
- Has been in space.

What do you think, is Squall awesome or not?

Overhyped characters I have the tendency to not like. So he isn't awesome.

Squall's attitude stinks soo bad I disliked his character even with all his awsome combat capabilities and accomplishments. Captain Falcon is more awsome compared to Squall by simply telling him "SHOW ME YOUR MOVES!!" Then he goes "hmmf" and Falcon Punches him before he can use his limit break.

So what's the goal of this topic? Do you actually intend to debate the pros and cons or is this just an attempt to prove how awesome you think he is?

If you're not willing to give ground on any of this then it's not a debate. I don't see how you can have a serious discussion about which fictional character is better, it's all bias and opinion, none of it is facts. Well, they are factual events in a fictional story but it's still impossible to compare them with other works of fiction unless they are directly linked(FF7 and 8 are not).

Unless this goes in a debate direction I'll move it next time I check it.

@jozman: I'll agree the Falcon trumps all, and Squall in FFVIII is a loser. Squall just has some awesome attacks and abillities.

Yes they're true but only in that reality. Can Squall kill Galactus(No.)? We may never know because they don't exist in the same reality. We can make wild guesses but it will go in circles every time.

I don't want you to get the wrong idea about why I would move this. It is a debate but it's not a serious one with controversial opinions. It's nothing personal against you or Squall.

Btw I voted in favor of Squall this time. I may not like him but I can recognize that Square made him into a good character that a lot of people like. He just needs to lose the fur lined half coat. Maybe that's ok in Japan but that wouldn't go over well in America.

He does need to lose the coat, and maybe get one without fur that fits him.

Nomura gave Squall a fur coat because he wanted to give the cutscene animators a tough time.

I understand the fur, it is the size that bugs me most.

I was bored today and I decided to see who was the greatest Dissidia hero based on who they defeat/get defeated by.

Based on the story this is how is ends up:

1. Squall Leonhart
2 or 3. Warrior of Light
2 or 3. Cecil Harvey
4. Bartz Klauser
5. Onion Knight
6. Terra Bradsford
7 or 8. Cloud Strife
7 or 8. Zidane Tribal
9. Firion
10. Tidus

It proves Squall's epicness.

I don't wish to go into detail, but I'll explain if I have to.

Edit: Should I do the villains too?

Ok it goes like this (it's lengthy):

I started with Squall since he is the only person not to lose/tie a fight in Dissidia.

-Squall defeats Kuja, Warrior of Light and Ultimecia (Sq > Ku,Wol,Ulti)

-Warrior of Light defeats Garland, Sephiroth, Emperor, and Ultimecia but loses to Squall. Sephiroth in turn defeats Firion. (Sq > Wol > Fir)

-Firion defeats Jecht and the Emperor and ties with Ultimecia, but Tidus loses to the Emperor (Sq > Wol > Fir > Tid) Since Squall and WoL defeated Ultimecia but he ties, it proves hes lower.

-Cloud defeats Firion and Sephiroth but loses to Terra. (Ter > Cld > Fir > Tid)

-Terra defeats Cloud and Kefka (not after tieing with him), but loses to Onion Knight.

-Onion Knight defeats Terra and Cloud of Darkness but loses to Exdeath, who Bartz defeats. He also ties with Kefka. (Brtz > OK > Ter > Cld > Fir > Tid)

-Bartz defeats Exdeath but ties with Golbez, who Cecil defeats. (Ccl > Brtz > OK > Ter > Cld> Fir > Tid)

-Cecil defeats both Exdeath and ties with Golbez once and a second time defeats. But nothing conclusively labels him better than the WoL.

-Zidane defeats Kuja and Garland, but ties with Kefka. Zidane is lower than Terra but has no specific area.

-Tidus only defeats Jecht, but loses to the Emperor (who Firion defeated).

I'll do the villains next.
