I would never have gone public with this. It's a private matter as far as I'm concerned.

Yep, that might be wrong, but he had to stand up for himself somehow show the truth... From what he sad, his daughter is really spoiled and i really can't stand those kind of people, because they know nothing, and grow up becoming those helpless dumb fat people. Although, the laptop should've been sold.

Girl is a typical spoiled brat.
Dad invaded daughter's privacy.
Dad was hurt and acted out like a child.
Going for the gun when you are emotionally hurt is not a great sign.
What exactly is the girl supposed learn from this?

I don't see anything good coming from any of it, so I will say I disapprove.

Dad should work on a relationship with his daughter than involves her feeling like she can talk to him instead of the Internet when she is upset with him and otherwise stop snooping around.

I like how one of his main points is she is spoiled and takes her cushy life for granted and she is ungrateful for the time and money he spends on her computer and then instead of selling it or at least giving it to his hard working cleaning lady he just destroys it.

Re: Parenting in the 21st Century

Yeah, the seemingly pointless destruction was kinda stupid and the only part I really didn't like although it did get a quick lol out of me.

I do approve of the "punishment" of posting that on her FB page. Shame and public embarrassment is a bit more effective of a punishment then taking away a laptop. Now, at least for the next couple of weeks, she can be embarrassed daily by being the girl with the crazy father.

Re: Parenting in the 21st Century

From the sound of it she was just being a typical spoiled teenager and venting on FB by exaggerating her woes. Hill billy daddy definitely went overboard by executing the laptop but I know plenty of parents would who be cheering this on, including my own dad.

@Steven- The father said she only has to make her own bed and occasionally the guest bed. Are you gonna believe the 15 year old being emo to her friends on FB or the dad?

Btw I found it sad that hick daddy can't even put the cigarette down to shoot the video.

Re: Parenting in the 21st Century

I totally agree with Kong.

I also agree with the destruction of the laptop. Having something of yours sold versus having something destroyed, the second hurts more and probably helped him relieve some stress.

@DB, I did'nt hear him say otherwise, and he does'nt seem much more mature than the girls so I don't know who I would beleive.

>"I work in IT"
>"Spent $130 in software"
Stopped watching.

All joking aside, attempting to publicly humiliate someone , let alone your 15 year old , is lame. I don't think breaking the laptop or whatever is bad, I think making it an internet sensation is really psychotic. Parents are people just trying to do their best, so however this guy deals with it is fine so long as she is mentally/physically safe.

I can understand that he wants her to be independent, I started working the second I understood the concept because of similar family things, and I see how it helped in someways building my character. He's trying to ensure her survival by showing her how he got to that point. The thing is, his circumstances were different .It just doesn't seem to be effective to needlessly put life on hard mode for his daughter. I don't know about you, but I know at least 5 cases where really well off families really put the pressure on their kids and they turned out to be psychopaths/failures/screwed. Yeah don't spoil your kids, but there is no reason to want them to experience the same hell you did.

Making your kid feel inadequate when their entire life revolves around social status is a guaranteed way to to raise a psycho. People are so quick to write off the wants of teenagers without realizing THAT IS THEIR LIFE and they have to deal with those social pressures each day. To expect your child to BE MATURE and CONFORM TO YOUR ADULT VIEWS is so hypocritical. If your kid is ungrateful when you spend money on them, it's because you failed at making them understand the concept of money. It's completely meaningless to them because they have no reason to care that you spent $130.

Re: Parenting in the 21st Century

@Steven- She said she has to make all the beds. He specifically says she only has to make her own and maybe once a month the guest bed. I agree he's not exactly mature either but I tend to believe his story more than hers.

About five and half minutes into it he starts twisting his cigarette to get the tobacco out, then he twists the rest and tosses it. I believe the term is field stripping, a military thing. Looks like he's smoking unfiltered so that makes sense if he's gonna toss it in the yard. It's pretty typical of country guys from my experience.
