What'll happen when Kojima leaves Konami?

With the hellstorm that is Konami self destructing its video game market for mobile gaming and other sections, I've wondered what Kojima will do once his split with Konami is official. Will he remain a independant developer? or will he join forces with another company? It's only wishful thinking but i think Nintendo should try to acquire his talents for some games. What are your thoughts? Should he remain independant, join forces with another company, or just sit back and retire while games he put hours of blood, sweat and tears collapse into infamy because of Konami?

I agree with Steven. I don't think he's going to retire.

Either he'll work independently or join a company, most likely Nintendo or Sony.

Kojima and Yoji prob still wants to make big games and for that he's gonna need big money. He's not going to be able to just take his handful of devs, make a niche company, and start a kickstarter. Most likely we'll see him join up with another studio like Platinum.

I don't see Nintendo wanting to take on Kojima full time. They might take him on for a solo project or two again like they did with Boktai.

I don't see him retiring. But I also don't see him being able to make a game of his usual grand scope ever again. He takes way too long and costs way too much, and the number of companies with the funds to support him are fewer in number than there used to be, and rapidly decreasing as they fail or exit the games market.

Yeah but he's getting old and like SH pointed out no one is gonna be paying for his grand projects anymore. Gotta make that paper.

I think he will be able to drop the Metal Gear universe. Working on it for 25 years will be enough for him I think.

I think he'll be more sore about his other works which will continue to be owned by Konami. Snatcher, Zone of the Enders, Boktai, etc, all the mech, spy, and vampire stories he won't be able to touch anymore.

It's hard to say what he'd do next. Making actual movies instead of game moves (MGS4!!!) might be a possibility.

I could see him taking the Igarashi route, these guys have a legacy that basically paves their path in gold. I could definitely see a new ip.

He can work for Hasbro and start up a new games division there.
