Friendly Match - Mexico VS England

I am really looking foward to watching this game today. It's going to be tough for Mexico playing in England. This is going to be a great test to see where Mexico is as a unit. Hopefully the field is in good condition so nobody gets hurt like Ballack did not too long ago on that same field. That really hurt the German squad to lose a key player like that.

I didn't know these two teams were playing, but it should be fun. The Mexicans usually play well but can't seem to get to elite status. Who's good on Mexico this year?

@ Tanc- there's a bunch of great young talent like Giovani dos Santos and Andres Guardado, along with some veterans and players in the european leagues such as Rafa Marquez and Cuauhtemoc Blanco.

@ Tails- I don't know. I was messing around with the group thing and then I saw that this was in the forum.

I understand how here in the states people would get confused, but I guess it had to be called something. We can't have two sports with the same name now could we? Funny thing is that even in the MLS, there are teams with F.C. on the teams name like the Toronto, Dallas and Seattle teams.

Yep. 3-1 in favor of England. I know it looks bad on paper, but the Mexican squad was putting on some good pressure and was very aggressive. An inch here and there and this would have ended very differently.

I'm in England and it wasn't a great performance by the England team. The back four looked disorganised (although both keepers did well). Mexico looked pretty good in patches and but for Rob Green (England keeper in the first half) making two excellent saves from Carlos Vela the result could have been very different.

As far as indications for the World Cup go, it's difficult to learn too much. Both managers wanted to have a look at different systems and different personnel. I'd expect Endland's team against the USA in their first game in the World Cup to have a different look about them. For Mexico, I think they have some good players and have a good chance of qualifying from their group. France aren't the force they were but are dangerous and Uruguay are mediocre at best. South Africa are a bit of an unknown quantity, home nations tend to at least get out of the group stages (even if they sometimes need some refereeing assistance... ahem).

I did watch it jozman3000 and I thought Japan were very unlucky. England were poor again and aside from the saved penalty and the own goals they didn't look like scoring.

There is always so much hype about the England team but they really don't look like a team that will have any real impact at the World Cup.

England has great players and individual talent, but they just don't seem to play well together. Something is missing for them. Japan was playing very well and their keeper was very good. Too bad luck wasn't on his side.
Man, the WC is just around the corner. I'm freakin stoked!
