Grandia - PS1

Who here has played it? Like I said I got it via PSN just cuz it looked interesting. I love it, it reminds me of the mechanics of Chrono Trigger with new elements, and it's not based on time.

I'll post more tomorrow when I get off from work, bed time.

Same basic mechanics as Chrono Trigger, that must be cool.
A good portion of the staff of Grandia previously worked on the Lunar series.

Sue is pretty cool, but really weak, I found that out when I got Feena in my party. Love her "rah-rah" cheer, heals.

this was on PS1?! lame, it was a saturn exclusive that way outdid all the PS1 RPGs from what I remember... Oh, well. No I haven't tried it but might for saturn.

Yes, it came after the Saturn version, and it got better art, even if DB disagrees.

Sure it did, got a link to anything to back that up or is this more of your Saturn fanboyisms? Also why is it lame to port it from a dead system to one that was still active? You think it would be better to let it rot in the past because it was exclusive to a failed system? Really?

DB I read somewhere it was Saturn first, then released on the PS1, so Cam's kinda right.

I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about how it supposedly "way outdid" all the PS1 rpgs. I think he's remembering it wrong. This game was considered one of the best Saturn games but not one of the best overall.
I dunno, something about how he said it bothered me.

PS1 was an amazing system for RPG fans. I would say it comes close to if not equals the SNES as having the best RPG library.

I really enjoyed the ps1 Grandia, I played it several years ago. I like the extreme amount of detail in the graphics, and the, "go where the wind takes us," type of story line. It is one of those great games with really cinematic magic spells. I ended up powering up my characters so much that I was able to beat the final boss, with the final boss never getting to attack at all. my crowning achievement.

Saturn - 1997
Ps1 - 1999

it was an exclusive. I was surprised to hear it is on ps1 since this is the first I've heard. yes, it's well known I like saturn better than PS1, matter of personal preference that I enjoy the saturn much more. Most of japan liked the saturn much more. Don't see the issue and I don't feel I need to explain why every time. so back to topic.... :-/

PS1 is full of anime? I'm going to get my hands on the saturn version for sure now.

I think it is more because each artist's style was more of their own, not everyone using a very similar style. That and the art had to be hand-drawn more often than not, and it showed. Now a good portion of artists do the majority of their work by computer, meaning they are somewhat more limited in what they can do.

That and it really wasn't being forced down our throats as well.

Both use anime art styles for the concept art and cover art and whatever.

Fully digital means you have to rely on your mouse/tablet and your image-editor or whatever to register everything properly and have the color pallet you want.

I get a digital approach to coloring and touch-up, but doing the initial line-art digitally is more limited and takes less work to do as a whole.

It's not as big a deal to him as you're making it seem. (I think)

I do like the Saturn art much better. It does seem much more unique.

Yeah there's something wrong with it. A fanboy is blinded by his obsession. A fan likes/loves the obsession but he can see the faults and be honest about it. Which one are you?
