Nintendo Wii (Revisited)

With the advent of the new site, I thought I would recreate our discussion thread regarding the "Revolution". I mean, what's a video game forum without one? :mariohead:

Anyway, UPDATE!

As of today, 12/22/06, "Revolution" owners can log onto the Shop Channel and download the Beta version of the Opera Web Browser! Unfortunately, the Beta version does not support Cookies, so there will be no posting on forums from your "Revolution"...at least for the time being. :luigi:

On the plus side, you are able to view YouTube without any problems. These are the only two sites that I've checked so far, since I had to work, but I will test it more once I have the chance.

The Beta version is free to download and Nintendo plans to have the full version available in March 2007. The full version will be free to download until June 2007 when it will increase to an acceptable 500 Points ($5.00).

In addition, for those who hadn't heard or noticed yet, the Forecast Channel is also available now. Get your current and 5-day weather forecasts as well as the ability to check the weather all around the world via an interactive globe!

The only channel left to unviel is the News Channel. Nintendo plans to unwrap the final channel on January 27th. :wario:

Looks like I'll get my Revolution a couple days after XMas. Shipment should be Wednesday, better late then never, I suppose. :mushroom:

I heard that Super Mario Bros for the NES will join the Wii Virtual Console lineup on Christmas! Isn't that exciting? And like every other Wii Virtual Console NES game, it will cost only 500 Wii Points.

Well if that new Revolution-Browser supports Java then Nintendo made a big mistake by making is since anyone can come here and play for free! :mariosmily:

I also heard that Santa dosn't have enough Wiis to ship to everyone that wants one, so I might not get mine til January.

Nintendo'd need to release a keyboard extension to the remote for this to work...which'd be the greatest thing ever!

I was thinking, does the Revolution have a USB port of any kind? Maybe try and stick your keyboard in and pray, the worst thing that could happen is that it don't work, right?:wario:

I figured IÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢d shake things up a bit with a new 'tar now that I got an equally new quote that I like in my sig. I'm still looking though so there will most likely be a few changes along the way.

I thought about changing my avatar but it's kind of grown on me.

Anyways, I wonder if Nintendo will reserve the right to block access to certain websites from their Opera browser. Say websites that would let you bypass a downloading fee...

New note. I've found that there's a character limit in the Wii system. For those unfamiliar, when using the Opera Browser on the Wii, when you click on any data entry field, be it a login box, or a forum posting, the Wii brings you to a new screen that brings a keyboard up on the screen, and lets you use your remote to "type" it's a bit tedious, but it really moves faster than you'd expect - and is really why I'd like to see a keyboard attachment to the remote. But this screen has a character limit. Check this post if you're interested:

If you did a character count, of all the normal font in the post, plus all the Bold faced font down to the first "praha" that's about what the character limit is.
