SNES RPG's
Now that we have the SNES running I need to ask the question,
What are some really good RPGs?
I am looking for things along the lines of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy.
I am not that into Secret of Mana tho.
So aside from the 3 there.

You already know my feeling on this game. I am playing it both on the VC and here at RU at the moment.
Count do you have all 3 characters and some magic. If not, keep going until you get those, then see how you feel.

Re: SNES RPG's
I have to agree. I tried Secret of Mana as well and didn't care for it.
I love most of the games created by Square. Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc. Chrono Cross is awesome!!! But you've obviously already discovered all those.
I loved the Dragon Warrior series on the old NES system. I had all 4 games and loved each one. For SNES, give Mario's Legend of the Seven Stars a try. Yes, the game is definitely aimed at a younger crowd but the gameplay is still great and I enjoyed playing this one even as an adult.
For slightly newer games, I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts. I loved Final Fantasy and square games (I mentioned that didn't I) and who didn't love all those wonderful Disney movies as a kid. Kingdom Hearts is Final Fantasy meets Disney. Literally.
Nowadays I spent most of my game time playing online games. Guild Wars has captured my attention. If you are at all interested in online MMO's then give it a try. No monthly fee so it's a cheaper alternative to games like WoW. (Cheaper, not crappier)

Re: SNES RPG's
secret of mana is with out a doubt a great game
its story is deep and its game play does not get boring
once you get some magic and some decent weapons and get to the boss of the first world the game gets alot better up untill you get to the deep egypt tombs (I always found that dungeon boring ememys are two hard to hit with phisical attacks)

Re: SNES RPG's
... no maybe its not egypt tombs but you are in a cave like building with rivers next to you and there are quick bats flying around and it makes it impossible to hit them and you are in the desert
I will have to play again in fast forward mode and see...
I would say its the 3erd or 4th boss

Re: SNES RPG's
A good SNES RPG that isn't chrono or FF?
Definately Earthbound.
Phantasy Star 2 for the Genesis is good too.

The 7TH Saga
Awesome game but not for casual rpgs players(unless they want a challenge).
Yoshis Island is RPG?
And yes count, Secret of Mana is a good game. It might not seem good at the beginning though. Get into more and I bet you'll like it.
Also welcome back to RU Maquis. We seem to have a lot of people coming out of the woodwork since the update.

Thx Dude, but actually I never left. I just rarely ever post. I play in the arcade during lunch breaks but never come to the forums. Icculus and I trade the Hangaroo champion title a lot and I spend a lot of time playing Tontie.
Tontie is an addictive little flash game using the numpad on your keyboard. Give it a try. I need the competition. (Don't let the high score scare you away. It was a fluke and actually with the way that game scores it really didn't take a lot more gameplay to reach it.)

Re: SNES RPG's
Good to see you posting. What made you do it, the update?
I'll favorite that game until I get some time to try it with no interruptions. It sounds like a game I need to focus on.
Btw another good Snes RPG is Might and Magic III Isles of Terra. I'm replaying it now and I remember how much I loved it. It's a first person dungeon crawler so it's not for everyone but it's awesome if you like that sort of thing.

Re: SNES RPG's
I didn't think I had to mention it since you covered it earlier. Breath of Fire is awesome, there really is no debate anyways.
I noticed you didn't nominate 7Th Saga Tenser, you saying it sucks?

Re: SNES RPG's
No, but 7th Saga isn't for the casual RPGer. Giving that he only mentioned a few very mainstream RPGs I was under the assumption that Count is more of a casual RPGer.

How about Might and Magic? It might be a little complex at first but it's a great game.

Re: SNES RPG's
I actually like RPG's Tenser that's why I am looking for some that are not of the normal ones like the Final Fantasys and such.
I am looking to branch out a bit and see what it out there. The ones that I used were just a few examples that came to mind at the time.
