Donations
The Google Text ads on this site pay for the cost of hosting - there isn't anything left over after that. I have worked on this site for the past 5 years. I am to the point where I can no longer treat it like an unpaid hobby and continue to work for free. I still love RU and will continue to treat it like my baby but from now on new features will be added after meeting donation goals.
Our first goal - $300 to add Atari 2600 has been reached.
Our next goal is another $300 to add high score support to Coin-Op (Arcade) games. Also at the same time the ArcadeOX random score error problem will be fixed.

Re: Donations
Just an idea, but maybe let everyone vote on which options they want the next goal to go towards?

Re: Donations
There will normally be voting - that is how Atari was picked last time. But this time no voting because I really want the score problems resolved and Coin-Op score recording would be way too awesome to wait for.

Re: Donations
I agree that Coin-Op scoring will be awesome when that happens. That will boost the number of score enabled games dramatically.
Of course the # 1 thing I would like is probably far down the list, but I appreciate what is here. R.U. rocks Kong! No mistaking it.

Re: Donations
I think 300 is a little steep this time, I think, If you're going to bring a console here, Then 300 is good, but I think in this case maybe drop it slightly
Just a suggestion
Thanks again for all the hard work

This one is about 50 times harder than adding a new system. I also think it is a more important addition.

Re: Donations
sounds good...looks like the bagel bros. were the big spenders...when we cry about a recession, they are busy laughing in our faces and catching our tears with their 50 dollar bills.
@ cam. in 5+ years, i wouldn't be surprised to find out if kong has put anywhere from 10000 to 15000 hours of work into this. 600 bucks (currect 300 + next 300) would break down to about 4 cents per hour. I would pay 4 cents an hour to use this site, hands down.

Re: Donations
We have collected $200 to add support for Sega 32X games playable in ArcadeOX mode.
The donations came from
Winnebagel $60
Gamenguru $50
mr94chevys10 $25
Dudebro $20
afireinside $15
jim5cents $10
Smittycal $10
beergaucho $5
anonymous $5
Thank you very much.
The next donation goal is $200 to add high score support for Coin-Op arcade games. Also at the same time the ArcadeOX blank score bug that randomly happens will be fixed.

Re: Donations
Any hopes of putting up the Virtua Hamster prototype? It's still playable to an extent.

Re: Donations
Added. I think our definitions of "to an extent" are different. If it is a game then it is just barely.

Talked about here. It's an unreleased 32X game that is bad at first, but the tunnels hypnotize you into playing.

Re: Donations
Also, why no scores on some of the score collectible 32X games yet?

Re: Donations
32X will probably never support scores. If they were they would have to be marked as "farm" because I can't confirm there was no cheating.
Coin-Op will support scores soon though. That is what will happen after the next donation goal is reached.

That's interesting. Is it because of the 32X ROMs themselves, or there it some other reason 32X has this issue?

Re: Donations
It is because of the emulator.
Game Genie and Save States in the other systems are relatively all similar. Meaning I remove support for cheats once and all games can submit scores.
Coin-Op and 32X are different. Each of them would have to be done separately. After looking through the Coin_op games I think it is obvious that it is worth the extra work. But the 35 32X games that are mostly lame are lower priority.
Also with the 32X a crafty technical person could still figure out how to cheat where as on the other systems it would be very difficult.

Okay. That makes sense I guess. I didn't know that about 32X.
I agree that Coin-Op is way more worthwhile in the long run.
