I still think Gene Roddenberry had a pretty cool vision of what the future could be.

Living together in harmony and working toward the advancement of the whole, while being free of the need for monetary gain.
In other words:
NO MORE MONEY - HURRAY, HOO-YAH, and AMEN!

Ironically, it could take all of the world's current 'wealth' to begin Starfleet Academy, but what the hey!
I think it would be worth it.
