Hard Drive Not Recognized

So recently I took a hard drive out of my old computer...well, I didn't, a friend of mine did, because he thought we could put it in my new computer. I wasn't gonna mess with it and didn't really care, so I let him deal with it. Well we couldn't plug it into my new computer, so I put it back in the old one. After that the PC stopped working, telling me it had a bad boot disc. I finally got my hands on an external enclosure for the hard drive, and it will not recognize the drive. I am assuming my drive has something very wrong with it.

My question is, is there any way to salvage some of my data? I have been making a record on that drive since January, and REALLLLLLYYYY don't want to lose my music that I was too stupid/poor to back up.
