It would not take 1,000 years but it will not be anytime soon. I would guess that in about 10 years computers would have advanced enough to have an online GameCube emulator.
SNES would be technically possible right now. It requires about the same specs as a Genesis emulator. Just no one has taken the time to make one yet.
