I hate people who use the word, as my little sister was born a healthy baby, with a lack of oxygen. When the doctor gave her oxygen, he put it too high and caused brain damage. the doctor said she won't live past 6. she's 22 now.
i don't know all the details, however, so it may have happened differently.
