You can use any controller or joystick that simulates a keyboard (follow the instructions that came with your controller). If your controller is not capable of simulating a keyboard you can use [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xpadder"]Xpadder[/ame]. It will allow you to program and PC controller so it can send the keyboard inputs that Retro Uprising games are looking for.

Things you will need:

1. A controller

2. Xpadder => Download found here Xpadder5-3.zip.
(for more information on what Xpadder is: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xpadder"] Xpadder[/ame] )

3. an image of your controller (Here is an xbox 360 controller image for you to download and use.)


4. If you are using an Xbox 360 controller you will also need something called

Xbox 360 Accessories Software v1.1 <= this is required by your computer so it recognizes the controller and may be vital to playing ArcadeOX score mode.[BREAK=Install and Setup]Xpadder is simple to install
Just download the Xpadder.exe file, unzip it and install it.
Plug in your controller and follow the on screen prompts.

Warning:
If you use Xpadder to control your mouse DO NOT enable the feature that turns Xpadder on when you turn on your computer (Start with windows) because sometimes Xpadder starts up wrong and the stick gets stuck going one direction and your mouse never stops moving.
Its really hard to cancel Xpadder when the mouse is constantly moving so just save yourself the hassle.
(this problem is just like the N64 if you held the stick to one side on startup it would walk your guy in circles.) and restarting does not always work.

(In ArcadeOX Full mode Xpadder MUST be turned on.)

NOTES:
you can use xpadder to do anything your keyboard can do
some examples are

shift+F1 to make a save
and F1 to load

just select the button and on the Keyboard pop up select shift then the F1 key.

Xpadder works well with the fast forward key just assign one of the triggers to the end key and make walking in rpg's a breeze

(You can use the cycle stop + Turbo + Toggle + Fast forward to make grinding easier. You can make your character walk back and forth then attack alot of times then put in a few cancles (in case you get into a menu)) then just toggle that key on and put fast forward on and your chars will fight automatically.
Play around with it and you will get it.[BREAK=ArcadeOX Score Mode]

When you want to play score mode using ArcadeOX you are going to have set it up a special way.
Its not hard once you do it a few time but it is really easy to mess things up.

Note
Your controller must be plugged in
(Xpadder does not need to be on when you play score mode with ArcadeOX the emulator is reading the controllers buttons through the computers driver instead of Xpadders. In fact nothing with Xpadder works with score mode. )
Note 2:
You will have to repeat this process for every system that uses ArcadeOX Score mode.
(Snes, Nes, Genesis, ect. ect.)
(luckly you only have to do it once and it saves)
To map the controller to work with ArcadeOx do the following
Load any game in ArcadeOX score mode
Press the Tab to access the control panel
Highlight and select User Input (This System)
(these are all the controls the the system uses.)
To change any of the controls just Highlight the one you want to select and press ENTER only once.
The area will change to < > then
you push the key you want controlled there
then enter again to change it to < > again then
push the corresponding button/direction on the controller.

Just play with it a bit and you will understand it quick.
Just a few things to note
You have to have the action mapped to BOTH the controller and the keyboard or you can only use one or the other
It should read
X or Joy pad button 1
Not
X Joy pad button 1
That means X + Joy Pad button 1 at the same time.

If you mess up just push ENTER>ESC to change the Key to NONE and then start over

The images below are screenshots of the default settings for most of the screens that can be accessed in score mode of ArcadeOX. I am attaching them just in case someone messes up and wants to start over they can reset everything back to the way it was manually.
