Why? That makes no sense. If you think a game is good enough to be in your top ten then what's the reasoning behind not adding it? If you don't want to do that with your list, more power to ya. But it would be kind of ridiculous that I couldn't add my #5 pick (Seiken Densetsu 3) because my #1 is Secret of Mana.

the reason for adding one game per franchise is the fact that lists could be dominated by mario and Donkey kong with only a few outside games, and you could get a list like this:
10. Super Mario All-Stars
9. Super Mario RPG
8. Donkey Kong Country
7. Donkey kong country 2
6. Donkey Kong country 3
5. Super Mario World
4. Star fox
3. Zelda: Link to the past
2. Super Metroid
1. Yoshi's Island
Yes, it includes multiple franchises but it's bombed by the same franchise.
