David was right about not being in a depression/recession right now, and what was in the news was that June 2008 was the worst month for the NYSE
since the great depression. That fact doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot by itself either, since the NYSE is merely a shareholders' perspective of a handful of major companies. Wait until the jobless rate reaches the rates of the great depression, then you can worry (~25% at its highest, at least according to the statistics).
