I know the 4 part video series I posted at the top are
lackluster,
but if you can possibly manage to sit through them, you will likely be able to start playing shortly afterwords.

Japanese Mahjong game that plays well {although it's not as
pretty as
Pro Mahjong Kiwame 64 (Japan) but w/e} and it also has a breakdown of the different combinations of tiles and their point values at the bottom of the page {scroll down below the game table to see them};
oddly this very same game is found on many different sites but this is the
only one I found that gives any explanations.
