RIP Tony Gwynn
One of the best pure hitters in baseball. Was a two sport collegiate athlete (Baseball and basketball) before being drafted by the Padres in 1984. Stayed with the same team his entire 20 year baseball career. Ended his career with over 3,100 hits and a batting average well over .300. He then coached his college alma mater, San Diego St., coaching players such as Stephen Strausberg (which I am sure he didn't limit to any pitch counts). He died at age 54 to his four year battle with throat cancer which Tony believed to be caused by chewing tobacco.
If you watched baseball in the 80's/90's like I did, you watched Tony Gwynn and marveled at his ability to play the game.
