Well my point wasnt to say that the thing was a financial failure, I know it sold a boat load. My point was that Microsoft used this thing to try and steal a piece of the casual market. I don't think at any point were there intentions to make an excellent piece of hardware, the whole thing was jast a way of generating more revenue. They knew if the got it on Oprah, slapped it on home shopping network, gave away a half million of them, shut down times square for the launch party, and marketed the thing as some sort of miracle breakthrough in technology, then the people would buy it, and they did.
Also, I'd like to add that I'm not all that impressed with how the Wii turned out either, it has gone from one of my favorite Nintendo efforts to near the bottom of my list over the course of it's lifetime. At this point I don't think I will buy another console in my life to tell you the truth, the handheld scene is where it's at for me.
