$50 I choose the motherboard because it had HDMI out which I needed for this project - you probably don't need that so it might not be the best choice for you. It has a ATI Radeon 3100 onboard video card which is very good. It gets a 4+ on Windows graphics test and a 5+ on its 3D test.

That is everything you need except monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers all of which can be bought at a thrift store for under $15.

Total price $356 + $35 for shipping + monitor and keyboard, mouse and speakers. You could also easily save $35 by getting a case out of the trash or thrift store and another $25 by getting a power supply the same way - there are tons of them floating around and they are all basically the same.

Point is, you can get a computer that will do everything you need to do (unless you are trying to cure cancer or search for life on other planets) for under $400.
