First off, we evolved, not traded. Second, when a dog wants to show that it is dominate over another dog, it humps the everliving crap out of it. This is not a sexual act, it is to show that I am higher on the ladder than you. Now, it is not socially acceptable to hump other humans in this fashion, at least onto on the public stage, and definately not in the geopolitical arena. Enter the progression of weapons, nukes, and so on. Nukes are how you hump a countries leg. They say I'm the big dog. The instinct is still very much there.
